Fender Squire p-base with amp
Hey guys,
Became a member last night and was almost late for work this morning reading all the threads. I think I know the answer but wanted to put it out there. Here is an add in a local website: Fender Squire p-base with amp starting kit from about 6 years ago. played for a while... too busy now. strings have been changed once. good starting guitar and amp for someone who is curious, but does not have the money to buy brand new. needs a new chord (runs from base to the amp). over time this chord breaks at the connection due to the bend. approximately 20 bucks at the music store. asking 100 obo Its a red/white pick gaurd p-bass squire. If this thing is in good shape and I can get it and the amp(which prolly aint much) for $75.00........should I get it? I already know I will upgrade some things on it. Will use it to gig a side project as I am a guitar player. Is it worth the time and extra money for the upgrade? OR.......should I buy a Rondo SX Ursa 1 RN 3TS or SX SPJ Ash ![]() Thanks......Ron |

It's probably worth $75 with an amp but it's not going to be any good for a gig. Move on. Get a Fender CV or MIM if on a budget and at least a 200 watt amp to be happy. You can get buy with a cheap guitar set up right but not a cheap amp. I don't know anything about rondo but wouldn't want one myself based on looks of headstock The Fender Squire CV's get rated really high.

I might have posted the wrong intent. I am putting together an amp/cabinet to gig with. The amp that came with the bass was kinda a perk for practicing in bedroom. I was mainly looking at the bass guitar but I think I'm gong to take your advise and look at fender cv. |

I realize this is a pretty unimportant thing, but it's spelled "Squier", after Victor Squier, who founded the V.C. Squier company, who made instrument strings, including Fender brand strings. Fender bought the company in 1965, and retired the name but kept the trademark, bringing it back for their less expensive offshore brand.

you are wise tim FWIW - Squier - Rondo......both good contenders. if the headstok bothers you, don't do it. they are decent instruments. I Have two and also a CV 60 P bass, among others.(some are even decent - that wouldn't offend moderate cork sniffers) Get your rig together and grip it and rip it man! If you don't let your hair down, you won't have no fun at'all!
