R.I.P. Bill Raffensperger

Bill Raffensperger - William Arthur "Bill" Raffensperger died Wednesday. He was 69. Bill was the Bass player for J.J. Cale.

Along with Cale, David Gates, Leon Russell, Rocky Frisco and others, Raffensperger, a graduate of Tulsa Edison High School, helped establish the rock subgenre known as the Tulsa Sound. In recent years, he performed with local blues/rock band the Zigs.

(Two great Bass players graduated from Tulsa Edison - the other being Carl Radle who graduated in 1960 with me)

I remember Him from the 2004 Clapton Crossroad's DVD, playing with JJ Cale.

Raffensperger and Radle were both some of the greatest under-recognized bassists to ever walk this Earth. May their music live on for centuries!
