Bought a used MIJ Jazz Bass...

Just picked up a "Made in Japan" Used Jazz Bass. I looked up the serial # which is "H+six digits" which puts it around 1988-89. It's 3 color sunburst, rosewood neck and gold transition logo.

What did they call the MIJ Jazz Bass reissue in 1988?

It looks identical to the US 1962 Reissue.

It came without a pickguard, but no big deal. I like the Jaco look it has. It plays wonderful and has no fretwear, it must have been rarely played.

Thanks,
Jack L.

MIJ Jazz Bass...

Thanks, I guess they must have called it a 60's Reissue Jazz Bass in 88-89. The bass is great for what I'll be playing. My son gave it a recording test last night.

Started a new job today after being off for three months.
Looks like I'll be working out of my home a lot and doing online training. Lots of time to play the new bass.

Does anyone have a extra Jazz Bass tortise shell guard laying around?

Take care,
Jack L.

I'll be happy to sell you a white pearl one or a black three-ply. Won't ask for much. Email me if interested.

Jack, we want photos! We want mp3s! We want details on your purchase! How does it play? What kind of strings?

Stop teasing and get down to the nitty-gritty, bro!

Update on the Jazz Bass..

Sorry, new job and it's been hectic trying to train, get all the paperwork together and still run the house.

I still haven't got a chance to take pics yet, maybe later.

By the way the bass plays and sounds, you'd think it was a Original 60's Jazz Bass. The wear is just right, but what I can't understand is no fretwear anywhere? They must have been using flatwounds or it just didn't get played much. Well, it's getting played alot now. My son plays guitar and bass too! It always seems that I share my equipment with my son.

I'm going to hold off on getting a pickguard for now, no money.

Well, the new jobs sending me out to New Jersey next week, and Chicago in June, wish me luck.

Take care,
Jack
