Need help on string through body design

I have a Squire P Bass that I want to make string through, instead of top loading. I know some people are going to say not to butcher the bass, but I still prefer string through design.

I plan on using my drill press and drilling the existing bridge, and body.

That being said, does anyone know the measurements to do? i.e. hole spacing, drill bit size, how deep to drill to put int he ferrules, ect?

Thanks for the help!

Tommy

Use the bridge

Use the actual bridge you plan to use. Match the string thru holes to line up with the top loader path. Drill the two outermost thru holes 1/8 dia all the way thru. Drill the inner two hole just past half way thru. Take off the bridge and flip the body. Place the same bridge over the two outermost holes and mark the remaining two holes. Drill them halfway thru breaking into the existing holes. Now open the back side ferrule holes to fit your ferrules. Watch the depth unless they are flanged head ferrules.
Good luck,
Rob
