New Fender Tv Bassman 350 w/ 2-10's

Does anyone own,or at least played/heard the new tv bassman amp w/ 2-10" sp.?They look cool and sound real good on the Fender site. My son is looking for an amp that does "old school" as well as a little "slap" now and then. He's a very good player and plays in my blues band. We dabble in a little "funk" now and then. What are your opinions on this amp? Thanks

Looks great at least! Previous SS fenders i have played sounded okay, except the last series had worryingly wobbly knobs

I haven't had the opportunity but ... Fender is not mentioned in the discussion of high end bass amps often, not generaly in the mid range of bass amps either ... My impression is of style over substance. Substance costs, style costs... I would be interested in hearing them but have no expectation of being impressed.

My single opinion is it's too expensive for me to consider seriously. Even if I had money to burn, there are plenty of better options for a gig or practice amp. It looks nice, though. So I guess I'd get one, if I could afford to buy an amp just to look at.

Thanks for every ones "OpInIon" of the amp. Thanks for responding, but I want somebody who has actually play, owned,or at least heard this amp in person, not what you think it is! It's a brand new design, and negative opinions about an amp you probably haven't even seen, isn't doing me any good. If you've played it and don't like it, that's differentThanks, still looking for legit opinions!

That's a good point and if I run across one and play it, I'll let you all know. Thanks again. This is a great forum and I respect all your opinions.

Are they even released yet? I've been considering getting one of the 2x10 as well.

Fender actually did pretty well on the bass preamp they released a few years back the "TBP ?" Problem for that piece was that among bassists, Fender has no shelf space at all when it come to amps. Pretty much it's the J or the P or a variant thereof ...

There are so many really good amps out there... ones that bassists are familiar with that it's going to be tough for Fender to get traction in that market. Recent Fender decisions like the Road Worn series - again jacking the price up for style over substance. Sort oof indicate that we have the bean counters and marketing flks at the helm and the folks tha tdesign and build are again inthe backseat over there... frankly I don't see them getting beyond the Guitar Center/Musicians Friend space... but hey - I could be suprised!

You know the amp I'm most inerested in ... is the 200 Watt Weber kit ... rumor has it that it can be made into a 200 watt B series ... a B15R / 200 - now that could be interesting ...

Hey you guys, if you go on Fenders site, they have some pretty good sound bytes of all the Tv Bassman amps w/ different basses. Give them a listen and see what you think. At least the sound bytes sound pretty good and have that "OLD SCHOOL" sound, which is what I'm looking for.

I gave that a listen. Nice clever web site. Yep - got that nice honky, no real low's combo sound ... The issue for me with that presentation is that you have absolutely no idea what you're really hearing ... You really have to press the accelerator yourself to fell the kick in the pants of a bass amp... if you get the chance to do a GC test drive - be sure to compare it to a GK driving a 1x5 or 2x10, maybe a Mark Bass driving a 12 or 2.

You want old school - own a bank ? the Ampeg B15R is an amp worth losing sleep over ... at $1500 in the used market it's outta my league but ... it's a spectacular sounding amp once the rattles are deadened ... that whole flip top design wasn't really meant for a 100 1x15 config I think ... still - a very, very nice sounding amp.

I've been gigging my new Hartke LH500 head into a nice 2x10 cab, and I'd definitely call it "old school" tone...

Nice sounding head that Hartke! As discussed elsewhere - I'm guessing that thing is also built to last. I'm not dumping my Eden or EA heads anytime soon, if I were - that Hartke would be on my short list, along with the Gk MB2-500 ...

Those new TV amps sure sound nice, judging from the Ed Freidland you tube promo clip!

I've tried one instore and after a lot of excitement I really wasn't blown away. Looks great but the tone was good, not great. Also awkward to carry with no side handles on an amp of that size. I'd probably rate it at 6.5 or 7 out of 10 overall. You can get tone that good at half the price. I've only played one though
