Bass Driver revisited
I posted last week about my need to have a good sound in the PA, as we were trying to play without amps. I had bought a Bass Driver when they first came out and was never thrilled with it. After so many endorsements for it on this site, I draged it out and took it to practice this week, and along with a new set of strings (D'Addario slow wounds ), an old analog chorus, and an HHB tube pre/compressor, I had a very happening sound going on. All bandmates were thrilled. Very light on the chorus, moderate compression so as not to kill all my dynamic range, and the Driver set to emulate a fat tube amp and all was well. I had never used it live before, just as a DI box for recording. Best of all, no money spent. And it can be phantom powered!

That's funny, because (if I recall correctly), I initially used the SansAmp a couple of times and put it away, unimpressed.
I tried it sometime later and now. . . if that little box dies, I'm dead meat. It SAVED my sound, and I'm not BS'ing. |

Not for DI
I like the BDDI as a stomp box to put some grit in my sound, although for the past year or so I haven't used anything between my bass and amp (except a cord). But I had problems with the sound guys if I used it as a DI. They like a nice clean signal to EQ the way they want to, so I have to use it without the active light on. Might as well use a cheap all-purpose DI.
