Eden 2x10

A friend has offered me his Eden 2x10 cab at a very good price. This would be good for me because

a) I've been looking to upgrade my homebuilt cab anyway
b) the Eden looks like a good power match for my amp (GKRB700II)
c) I could make the Eden my gigging cab, and add the homebuilt when I want 4 10s.

Unfortunately, it's not convenient to listen to this cab. Anyone use one? Any thoughts, ideas, advice, or dumb-as-rocks opinions? I trust the guy who's selling it so I'm not at all worried about its condition, just its suitability.

Thanks!

I use and gig with an Eden 210 (D210XST) and an Eden D212XLT - both 4 ohms. The 210 is one of the lowest performing cabs out there with a 30 hz low note. I use 2 - 4 ohm cabs as I like to run my amp at 2 ohms to max power - yes the amp safely plays at that ohm rating. Before your run at 2 ohms, make sure your amp can safely do this if you decide to try 2 ohms. I honestly don't think GKs are meant to run at 2 ohms though.

Eden also makes a D210XLT that has different specs, and there are several older models still out there, but more than likely, are used ones. I have a friend who is using an older 210 with a recently purchased used 212 thru a 500 watt at 4 ohms MarkBass amp. I haven't heard it yet, but I bet it sounds awesome!

I get so much bass out of that 210 (with the 212) that I have to adjust the EQ lower frequencies down off of flat, and adding mids and higher freqs.

Everywhere we play, I get other bassists coming up to me to tell what an incredible sound my rig has.

Anyway, not sure why you cannot hear it to test it, but, find out which cab it . . . what ohm rating it is . . . if you can see the cab, take the grille off and make sure that both speakers are Eden or an Eminence.

If your homemade cab runs at 8 ohms, and the Eden is 8 ohms . . . why not run them together at 4 ohms? Your GK should be fine running at 4 ohms. The 210 is loud and low, and would be fine for a small club, but I recommend adding it to another cab . . . again, running at 4 ohms.

Do you mean that it performs well at low frequencies, or that it has low performance (versus "high performance")?

From reading the post he means it goes lower/performs at lower frequencies. Yeah, took me a minute there too.

I'm pretty sure the GK will run either 8 or 4 ohms, putting out either 350 or 480 watts (plus tweet). If this cab is an 8 (as I think it is) it might be a good one. Eden generally has a good sound; I was more interested in whether anyone knows of any problems running them with GK (some amps/cabs don't match up well).
