Road Worn series - cool but too much $$$

I picked up a really cool looking p-bass at the store yesterday, and it was a little light, but the broken in finish felt great, and looked authentic. I plugged it in and it sounded fantastic - very deep and warm. So, not knowing the model, but seeing that it's MIM on the headstock, I say to the guy, "Is this the Road Worn Series? It's great, what is it...$800 or so?" And he says, no it's $1200, just like that Road Worn J-bass up there on the wall
Well, the j-bass had a thicker neck which I liked better, but sounded thinner.
Anyway, both very cool looking instruments, but $1200...? I just don't know about that. Now stick an American flag on the neck plate, and I would've been whippin out the plastic!

Yeah, it does seem like a lot. But if it's the one.......still, that's a lot.

So if it looks great, plays great, and you like it, who cares where it's made? I agree I think they're overpriced, but it is what it is. The American alternatives are three times the price.

I've got a Mexican Dirnt (which I'm surprised no one on this forum ever discusses-- (and I bought it used, so I didn't pay it's crazy price tag))-- and its a fantastic instrument.

Fender's pricing has gone plumb crazy ... do yourself a favor ... source a Fender 'Made in Japan' from the 90's. They rock! The new (well since 06) MIA Feners are very nicely done. I've had a pair float through here in the last year and they were really nice but ... my MIJ basses stayed and they left ...

the Road Worn I tried was OK but at that money? no way ...
