I want You Back

With all the sad news about MJ passing I musta heard The Jackson's " I Want You Back" about a dozen times yesterday. It's one of my all time favorite songs but I've never had the opportunity to play it in a band. I guess what we dig can be hard for a guitarist or drummer to get excited over and vice versa ?

Today I decided to take some "me" time while the family was out and get reacquainted with this nifty bass line.

I must say I've kinda forgot how much of a finger stretcher the first few notes and the bridge are but still I love this song for playing along to.

I wonder if James and MJ are somewhere together, talking about the old times, right now.

Thanks for the FYI.
I always figured that was JJ or Bob Babbitt playing due to the Motown connection.

That is a cool bassline in that song.

I visited the Motown Museum last summer and MJ's hat and white glove is there under glass, used at the Motown 25th.

The 'glove' is now on display at TEMP in Seattle along with sequined jacket from the video. If you ever pay a visit to my neoighbors up north, you really want to hit 'The Experience Music Project'.

Saw Graham Parker and the Rumor cover it during an encore once. Odd match, but it worked for them...great song!
