As a bassist, I'm happiest when.......

.....I'm facing off against two Telecasters. Enough said.

I'm happiest when there's only one guit, so I have some space to play with!

As a bassist, I'm happiest when we've just had a great gig, some blonde honey is smiling at me, the tip jar is full of money, and the bar pays us in cash!

...my bass is working and in tune.

I'm not what you'd call a functional bass player. I just love the instrument, and wish I had a much nicer one.

Groovy pic, atinder. That's the kind of place where musical magic happens.

+1, esp one who lives in the pocket.

..when the shower in my Hotel room doesn't suck. Ha ha .

No seriously, I'd say I'm happiest when I've played a really great room. The kinda room were the acoustics and stage are so good you can hear everything. No booming lows, no "lead" drums, and no squealing monitors.

............when the drummer and I are locked and smiling.
Lately I've been gigging with Tommy Beavers on drums---he won a grammy with Asleep At The Wheel years before,and only brings a bass drum,snare,and hi-hat.Incredible pocket guy.

When the band's pumping on all cylinders and the crowd is dancing and screaming at the end of the songs. And when you walk from the green room to the door as you're leaving strangers come up to you to compliment the band.

That would discribe last Saturday night. I wish they all could be like that!

i am happiest when the I can crank my silverface bassman 100 into my 8x10 fridge and slam the front end with my bluebeard fuzz.

:)

I love being in a band where the sonic territorys are not intruded upon. The guitars are present and fill the midrange and high treble. And I control the low mids and bass frequencies usually with a slighty driven signal but the fuzz can be addictive!

And the drummer fill out his needs in both categories. And no need for a sound guy we are turned up loud enough and mixed so well sonically we dont need no STINKING PA! except for vocals.

...when...
-I'm on a big outdoor/festival stage;
-I plug my rig directly into a monster 50,000 watt PA;
-I hit an open E along with the kick drum, and the earth literally starts to shake.

Green room? Here in the south we call it the Men's room. Usually more yellow than green.

somebody's tele is yellin!

chicken is kickin man! that was like Popeye's with sauce! Good clean jams.

How far is Murphy's Law from Nashville? I'm about 90 hop skips and jumps from New York.

record companies need real music again. The stuff they are pumping out now is mechanical.

You jam man. Robben Ford rules.

I'm happiest when the drummer waits for the beat and swats it on the @ss as it goes by. (Not my line, but I've subscribed to it for years.) ;-)

And oh yeah, when I'm playing my G&L L-2000. CS

As a bassist, I'm happiest when...

I like to see girls (OK, women), grab a friend's hand and lead him/her onto the floor and start to move with the music. I think that means the rhythm section is doing it right and tight.

I guess I have an actual answer now. I found this video form friday night of the kids I played with. So,

.....when there is enough stage lighting to read a chart (and yes my chart for the first one says "1")

I'm pretty sure the drummers mom recorded this.
