Any Love For Hartke Kickback Amps?
I just snagged a Hartke HA1200 from CL for $150-------1-12" and (supposedly) 120 watts. My regular bass gig is upstairs in a place where we have to tear down every night, and my 1-15 combo was killing me to load in and out.We are over in a corner, nothing mic'ed,so it should be enough power.
It seems to sound pretty good and loud enough. My question is------has anyone ever changed the speaker in one of these? I know that the aluminum cone thing is supposed to be a big part of the sound, but I have 2 EV SRO 12" that I was thinking about using.I would put one in the Hartke and one in my Classic 30.Right now the EVs are in an old Fender 2-12 tilt cab, which makes it super heavy to haul around. Thanks!

I used one, not sure of the model, but it had a 12 inch speaker. It was an outdoor gig and the amp was reinforced by the PA. I was stunned at how good it sounded on the stage! I was really impressed.

Today I ran the Hartke through the 2-12 tilt Fender cab (2x12" EV),and it kicked some serious fanny............one of those EVs is going in the Hartke!

Hartke makes aluminum and non-aluminum cone amps.
I have a regular paper-cone Hartke kickback and love it. If you replace the aluminum speaker I'm sure it will change the distinctive sound of that amp. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "... the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. A bass player I've jammed with a couple of times has the 1 X 15" version. He uses an Epi acoustic/electric and we were playing sans-drummer, but it sounded just fine. Filled up the coffeehouse with low end in a pleasing manner.

I've always liked Hartke gear. Had a full stack years ago with HA2000 head, 1x15 & 4x10 transporter cabs. Had an awsome sound/tone. I tried one of the newer A100 Kickback amps a few years ago, I think when they first came out. I really liked the sound and the size of the amp.
Hartke definitely has it's own sound/tone, and I guess that's the biggest reason I like them. |
