Song Suggestions

Long time guitar player, really lovin' playing around with the bass now, and would love some ideas for new grooves. Love easy stuff like Booker T's Time is Tight, Green Onions, of course, working on Keep on Runnin', also Deep Purple's Maybe I'm a Leo... I WANT MORE!! thanx

How about Brown Eyed Girl and I Saw Her Standing There? Two different kinds of workout for a bass player.

Get the soundtrack to the Blues Brothers. Should keep you occupied for a little while.

Duck Dunn is Da Man!

"Come Together", the Marvin and Tammi version of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (this one is tough to wrap your head around), "Longview" by Green Day, +1 on Duck Dunn.

When I was getting my bass chops together as teenager, I also just did the Beatles from end to end. Paul's bass playing really became more complex as their career went on, so I found that spending a few months working through their calendar chronologically to be a real milestone in my life as a bass player.

Albert Collins " Ego Trip". Classic funky bass line. You might use a software program like Amazing Slow Downer to help you gradually build the speed you need. When I heard that tune I thought that if I seriously approach the bass again that would be my reference point. Also Robert Palmer's "Sneakin Sally through the Alley" Great tune that is defined by the bass line.
