51p Flag Bass

while buckocaster has been working on my 51p sparkle, i sent a body to my mother for the graphic painting. she just recently sent it back:

drilling the back for the string ferruls, and the pickup adjustment ferruls:

cutting the pickguard:

laying out the position markers. these will be red. side dot markers for both instruments will be blue weed eater cord. the tele neck next to it will have blue markers. there with be a matching esquire to go with this bass for the grandchildren.

i still have some adjustments, but it is basically finished. i used it at practice the other night, and it sounds great with that blade pickup.

i made a string retainer out of a nickle, and a brass ball end off an old bass string:



...and the rest. i'll try to post some action shots later:

I'm trying to find some Fender P bass specs on a B profile. I know the nut is 1 5/8" but that's it... I do know it's chunkier than the typically common C profile you see. Got any 1st fret/12th fret specs, I can guess the rest.

Gotta love that string tree...especially the price of it.

Did you cut grooves in the back side for the strings?
