I saw they have a new "Club" feature on the forum.

Should make a "I've played Hoss Club"

Haha.

Hoss is awesome.

Tim:

I did a double-take when I saw those pics! I bartended at I.Eyes back in the late '80s/early '90s (on Wilmo Ave.). REALLY fun times. I actually still have that same Tee Shirt from, jeez...'91 or '92? Too funny.

Love the "Hoss" - that looks like its a LOT of fun! Great idea.

My wife and kids are at the place in Bethany this week and next - if I can get down there in time, I'll try to stop by Smitty's and say hello.

We played a bunch of gigs a few years ago at the Lewes location, backing up a faux-zydeco guy (long story!) until he alienated the management there. And obviously, before the place burned down (twice!).

It'd be great to see you at Smitty's!

Do you have any problem with weighting? Does the neck want to pull down?

Just curious, is all.
Looks killer! Nice job

No problem with neck dive at all! As a whole, Hoss is quite heavy, but I have a nice wide padded leather strap, so it isn't too bad except on busy weekends like the one we just finished, where we played five gigs in four days. I switched over to my short-scale SX bass after three of those gigs!

Sorry I didn't see this question earlier! I measured 30" from the nut, and figured that would be about where the G string saddle would be, giving myself a little bit of adjustment room in either direction.

I'm still in love with it, four months later!

That's one hunk of a basso here. I bet it growls pretty good with those pickups?

I try not to rave too much when talking about it, but man, that pickup just plain kills. DEEP, deep fundamental, wonderful mids and really nice upper range clarity and sparkle. In fact, I may put 250k pots on it (pretty sure these pots are higher range, as I used the pots that were on it when it was a guitar) to tame some of the highs! This is the first bass I've ever had to turn down the tone knob!

Well, it's got to sound as it looks. BIG!

I think you did a real original documentation, from start to finish, which is really great.

If you don't mind I can give you some tips for more effective pictures, when you do the next project.

It seems though, we all got the idea. Thumbs up!

I did a complete refinishing on my Hoefner Beatles Bass, back when I was a 13y/o youngin. Stripped and stained the guitar, to make it look like Felix Papalardi's Violin Bass.
