If you were to have a Thunderbird...
And it was holoflake, would you rather have it with a Maple or Rosewood FB with Big Block inlays.....Essentially this:

For a light color body/headstock, I'd go with the rosewood board personally.
Oh man I really want a Thunderbird now. You've pushed me over the edge!

My opinion is probably too biased, but I always like maple fretboards, especially with the block inlays.
I actually almost bought a Thunderbird last week but got the Squier VM Jazz instead, and not just because it has the maple fretboard... always wanted a Jazz, but now I'm thinking the next bass I buy will be a Thunderbird |

Not holoflake and no block inlays, but if you want to see a sparkle Fenderbird with a maple neck, here's one recently done by Mike Lull for one of the members over at the forum I cohost:

I'm partial to maple, myself, but that's a tonal preference, not neccessarily a visual one.
Are you intending to shape the headstock like that for the Enthwistle effect, or someting a little more gibsonesque?

If you want it to be somewhat Gibson-esque, definitely rosewood. If you were to put a Fender shape on the headstock, maple would say "My momma was a Gibson, my daddy was a Fender.... That's why they call me... Mindbender!"
Damn, now I'm wondering who did that song! Tim
