Ampeg Micro Stack
Looks like the Ampeg Micro Stack is finally shipping. I have a soft side for mini stacks. Any reviews/interest out there on this cute looking setup yet? http://www.ampeg.com/products/classi...ovr/index.html

Very cool.
I love it! It looks like they even include the cups on the top of the cab for the feet of the amp. I personally would want more power, even with a 2X10. When I can, I use my "club rig ", which consists of my Eden WT400 on top of an SWR 2X10 Goliath Jr. cab (at 4 ohms for 400 watts with replacement drivers) standing on end. This rig is really cool-looking, though. I hope Ampeg gets their QA problems ironed out and this product makes the company lots of money.

That looks really cool! A cab that only weighs 26lbs would be a welcome change for smaller gigs. I'm thinking it might be cool to lay it sideways and rest my V-4B head on it for when I want true tube tone but don't want to drag the fridge... depending on early reviews and street price, I may be in the market for one of these.

Follow Up: I did get to play this little stack in person this weekend. Caveot: I am not a bass player. Overall impressions are favorable on the basis of this micro stack being a $600 bedroom/small gig bass amp, especially nice for the Ampeg collector/fan. It does get quite loud but not nearly as one might expect for 200 watts (babycakes)! It's definitely cute as hell but smaller than I expected. Plenty enough dials and levers to have fun with and tweak to your heart's content, an on board attenuator, gain knob, etc. I'd like to hear an expert review or at least a bass players opinions. I'm what you call a mini stack guitar amp afficianado and love it based on it's diminutive size and traditional Ampeg appearance. Street price of $600 might be somewhat of a pinch in today's economy especially for something of a novelty. However, I'm sure the collectibility/cute factor alone will keep the value high in coming years.

Yeah, $600 is a lot for a practice amp, at least when there's things like the little 25watt crates and schtuff...but it does look quite tasty, I'll give it that. If I could get the guitar player to go with a Blackheart or maybe that new Egnater, it might be a pretty cool setup.
Now, how would one downsize a drummer/trapset?

Heaven help me, I'm a sucker for cool-LOOKING stuff, and that certainly qualifies!
Probably a good thing I don't have $600 available for frivolous gear-mongering, because Dave's right, buying Ampeg isn't as attractive an idea these days... Tim |

I have a set of Yamaha DTXpress III or similar, but I don't know that my drummer would consider using it seriously. One night, our guitarist got snowed in and it was just the two of us, so we had drum night, and he played the e-kit while I used the Gretschs, and he had some fun, but I'm not sure he'd really go for it.
Maybe if I told him he wouldn't have to set up at all, he'd consider it... http://www.dtxperience.com/dtxpressIII.php
