Bought a bass, & an amp.....Fender rumble 100: problem?

So, I bought that Fender Precision Special I posted about earlier. $275 with a really top-shelf hard shell case, not a bad deal at all. (see attached pic).

I also picked up a used Fender Rumble 100 bass amp. Sounded fine at the test.....but when I got it home, I noticed that it had an odd buzzing to it. Sounds like a blown speaker, but the main speaker is NOT blown.

What is the piezo "horn" that is on this thing? Looks like a small tweeter, I think? Is that blown, do you think?

Both the Rumble 100 2x10 and 1x15 combos have a high frequency piezo horn. Possible it's damaged somehow but not likely "blown" since the wattage/heat generated at the higher frequencies is typically well below its capacity.

If it is damaged, a replacement one is usually very inexpensive, but the cause of your buzzing might lie elsewhere.

There's a little switch on the back that turns the horn off and on.

I bought a new 100 about 6 months ago just to use as a practice amp.
I noticed a small buzz the very first time I turned it on.
I'm not too concern since I only use it to practice at home with.

Well, I'm now wondering if the speaker is blown or partially blown. I see no tears in the speaker fabric/cone, but something is definitely up. I disconnected the piezo horn, and that's NOT hte issue. So it's either the speaker or the amp section itself, which seems unlikely.

I understand that Fender amps have a 5-year transferrable warranty. If the people I bought it from can track down the original sales receipt (that's the proof of purchase), I guess I could test a warranty fix?

How much is a good replacement speaker for it? Doesn't have to be top-of-the-line, but it needs to be fairly robust and good sounding. But as ever, price is somewhat of an issue.

What would YOU do?

I have a new Rumble with a 15" and piezo but there's no switch on mine for the tweeter only for that stupid red light which I killed pretty quick.
I love mine (so far) but only use it for duo and home.

Sorry my mistake.
I have a Bassman 100 not the Rumble. The Bassman has the tweeter switch.

So, a timely (as ever) update. The amp itself was blown. So the place that sold it originally replaced it no questions asked. Pretty cool, actually. I paid $175 I think, so while it was a bit of a hassle, I ended up with a brand-new amp, fresh in the box.

Not too bad.

Sounds like a good deal to me! Good for you, and kudos to that store for doing the right thing!

Cheers, Tim
