Precision beauty: '59 P-Bass relic *PICS*
Project site with pics and story!
It's a project of turning a cheapo P-bass copy into a economical replica/copy of a 1959 Precision Bass. I'm not a bass player and only record bass for my tracks but I'm a sucker for vintage style instruments and I enjoy modding, improving and rebuilding guitar so... ![]() LINK: http://www.multi.fi/~nproject/precision_beauty/ Hope you enjoy! Yeah, I really enjoy it!
It's nice to have something creative to do when you get home, as a contrast to working in front of the computer all day... and now that's it's summer and all Here's some progress pictures: LINK with more high res pics: http://www.multi.fi/~nproject/precision_beauty/ Both the body and the neck are ready now and everything is to be put back together. Headstock is just waiting for a decal. Scored a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 for a nice price at a local sales site. I'll wire the SPB-1 up with a Orange Drop cap and cloth wire and unfortunately some cheaper pots and a jack. I'll have to upgrade those later though to CTS and switchcraft. I'm going to source out the rest of the parts as second hand if possible, alu guard and the pickup and bridge covers. But until I find everything it'll have this 60's look that it has right now... nothing wrong with that either! It's an instrument in a whole different class already so I'm happy :) |
