Jay Turser arrived, what kind of flats?

Well, after all of the discussion about Hofners in another thread, I decided to pull the trigger on a Jay Turser Hofner knockoff. As a lefty my options to try out instruments are few, and the Jay Turser cost less than a trip to Houston to try stuff at Southpaw.

Well it got here about an hour ago, and I've been having a lot of fun with it. The woody thump is a neat sound. It plays in tune quite well. It is feather light. (I can see why Paul likes to play his Hofner live.) The short scale and narrow neck are no longer my choice, but don't really bother me. (My first good bass was a Gibson EB-3 and I can now see where I got the habit (since broken) of overplaying.) The fit and finish are better than most other basses in the $250 range. I have the usual lefty *****es about how they have mangled the pots and switches, but Fender does that on every instrument they make (e.g. the 52 RI at $1K more).

Now the question: I want to switch to flats. What do you recommend? I use use TIs on my P-bass, but I'm worried about the low tension on a short scale bass.

Well you can try the Danelectro short scale strings or the Rotosound ones, go to some string maker websites to see which one makes flatwound shortscale strings.
