| Band Wagon Band discussion such as starting a band, playing in a band, and the like. However keep this limited to your band. Don't post about the Rolling Stones -- unless you are in the Rolling Stones. |

Fourth of July Fun
Yesterday was the annual jam a friend hosts. He lives a couple of blocks from City Park where they shoot off fireworks (except for this year because the fire danger is so high). He has a jam on his back porch and we play a lot from the Bob Dylan and Grateful Dead catalogs.
In spite of having no bass player, it sounded good. Strangers walking by politely asked if they could come back and listen to the band. (We let 'em) People danced and with cold beer and a lot of excellent food, it was a good celebration.

Looks like a hoot. Five guitars! Two drummers! Good golly.
I like how everybody's watching the guy on the right with the Casino(?).

The guitar on the far right is a '60's Aria Diamond that's had humbuckers installed at some point in time. His amp is a mystery SS amp from the '60's. We've yet to find anyone who could I.D. it. It's a great combination for electric rhythm guitar.

There are probably a lot of us who could post about our 4th of July celebrations/gigs. I played twice that day. The first was a solo gig at a retirement center that I play every Wednesday. The fact that it was July the 4th just meant decorations, more patriotic songs, more people and the serving of refreshments.
The second gig (with my duo) was practically across the street at a 4th of July picnic hosted by a local church. Set up on the edge of their sanctuary, facing their large fellowship hall (played to 200+ people). I did both acoustic and electric sets. For acoustic, I just plugged straight into the PA. For my Tele (Logan Custom Butterscotch Blonde loaded with Twang King pups) I used my Pathfinders, both of them. It was also fun on the fourth. My duo mate Jodie sings in another band, and a band mate of hers was in attendance, so we invited him up to sing. Another guy we both know was also there, and we asked him up as well. It was kind of a disaster; neither guy could remember the lyrics, but oh, well, it was still fun. Here's a pic of my duo mate Jodie and me at that gig.
