Last Nights Halloween Gig

Outstanding nite...my 81yr old mother came out to see us and she danced the nite away We steamed rolled thru 45 tunes in 3hrs...I was exhausted...I could never do this night after night or even once a week...to much work

The place was packed at various times thru the night and the owner was very pleased to see most everyone into the music..even the very young (early 20s') crowd.

A smooth gig most of the show...but I could have played better to be honest..but I got so damn hot, I started to get light headed at one point during the 2nd set The temps were in the upper 30s outside but it was roaring hot with all these people inside..I wish they would have just opened the door for a few minutes We each pocketed $75. for the gig..certainly not in it for the cash

I used my Tele and my Mustang IV amp ...you can spot my mother with her Black & white spotted top dancin with this old gent who was trying to pick her up

Me on lead..my brother on Bass..the drummer and 2 singers...a bare bones band for sure...but we have fun

Your mom was having a great time, no? Most of the 80 plus year olds that I see are in wheel chairs or on oxygen. I love seeing someone having such a great time. How old was her gentleman partner?

We did our gig last night under a pavillion outside. It was fair weather to start but got rather cool before the night was over. I stood for nearly 6 hours. My feet and legs were killing me. We played everything - country, blues, rock and even some gospel. Like you, I do it not for the money but we did pick up a little slaw last night. ($60 each)

Now I'll go to church this morning and play there. Then this afternoon I go back a play a 5th Sunday sing.

Your group sounds really good. I'd love to have a brother to play with. I bet there are going to be great memories some day for you.

How do you do all of that and play at church the next morning And then another evening event 3hrs of giggin and I'm spent for 2 days.

The gentlemen dancin with mother, was just a bar patron sitting at the end of the bar all nite...he saw mother get up and dance and he leaped off his bar stool fast

It was an interesting nite..this is my brothers band and I joined in about 10 months ago. The former lead guitarist of this band, showed up lastnight..he was fired by my brother after doing a show in this same beer joint He and I talked and just passed it off and didn't bring it up...he's nice gent..he just drinks to much to the point of heavy intoxication and can't play...he seemed to get trashed again when he left that night

We played at a costume party at a roadhouse about 75 miles out of Anchorage...in Chickaloon Alaska...9PM to 1:15 AM..which meant I didnt get home until 3:30AM...it was a good night..the roadhouse is a good place to play..nice stage, set up for easy load in-out...the place was packed...and they loved us...about halfway through the gig, the woman that booked us pronounced us the "Offical Band of the King Mountain Lodge"...we had folks dancing all night...and one gal.."Monica Lewinsky"...gave "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" a spin that I doubt the composers intended...

All in all, a good night..made a C-note...considering the last place we played asked us to turn down so they could watch a rodeo in cable TV it was pretty cool to have an appreciative and enthusiatic crowd...and quite likely we'll get some more gigs there..

There were some cameras...but those belonged the locals...I was trying to edit the one photo I took with my phone into something usable but it looks like it isnt happening. The lodge asked our ok to post some photos on their facebook page so maybe some will show up there...my wife had intended to come to take photos and video..but she ended up staying up late and watching "Gremlins" with our grand daughter Friday night so both were out of sorts, and she elected to pass...maybe next time..."Monica" lived in a cabin on the property so I dont think we've seen the last of her...

Edited to add: Here's a link to the FB page for the lodge...gives a bit of the local flavor...

I guess I've grown accustomed to not sleeping. The older I get, the less I sleep. I play every weekend for many hours at a time but don't usually stand for that long. I got home at 11:30 and went to bed soon after. I got up at 5:00 Sunday morning to prepare for the days events. I played two songs during morning service at church. Went home afterwards and ate a sub and lazyed around until time to go back for the afternoon sing. Did about an hour there.

I reckon you just gotta love it.

Packed house here, too, though the cabbage was on the thin side... the place is one of our regular haunts (sorry, couldn't resist!) and we're really well liked there... unfortunately, no good pictures of the band, since the place was literally wall-to-wall with people...

I have to agree I try hard not to play anything pass the 70s unless it's some very selective Country songs from the 80s and early to mid 90s. I've noticed that the Telecaster seems to be vanishing from todays Country music sceen..not surprised, but what a damn shame..There is no Country without the legendary Tele in my opinion

Great!
My H'ween gig (Sat the 29th) was a gas, too.
Finally got to rock out a little, and the monitors were perfect!
