Pick it Moon!......a little long

Hello to everyone.....new here.......Just felt like sharing some news that REALLY has me excited.

First a little background.......I have been playing guitar & writing for about 16 years (in my basement of course). Well, about a year ago I ran into a previous acquantince at a local honkey tonk where a band was playing. We were tossing back a few cold ones & I suggested that we could do that. So we agreed to get together the following week to "jam." The same night a fellow came in that I'd met the week before on a little impromtu kereoke with the acoustic guitar at the same joint. He came over to us & we told him we were gonna start a band. He said "really, well I play the bass." Wow! talk about lightning in a bottle. You have to understand out here in the middle of nowhere musicians are hard to come by. Anyway the next week came & we all met up & had a great jam. All of us were really excited about the idea of gigging & we continued practicing really frequently.

It was several months before we found a drummer, but eventually we did (drummers are 1 in a million around here) Didn't take us long until we were tight enough for our first gig. We played a benefit fund raiser for a local lady who is battling cancer. We totally rocked it & had a friggin blast doin it...

Fast forward a couple of months & out of nowhere the drummer starts flaking practice. This guy was a GREAT drummer too. Bad thing is he never fit in & was definitely marching to his own beat We knew he was kinda down on his luck (jobless) so we went to his house to see if he needed a ride or what. We knock on the door & are greeted with a 45 in our face.......Obviously he wasn't asked back to practice again.

We jerked around for a couple of more months just writing & hangin out mostly, then we decided to manufacture a drummer. Rhythem player's brother bought a drum set & started from scratch.

Yay! we got a band again! New drummer has progressed quickly, & although he doesn't bring much in the way of dynamics, he holds it down pretty well.

Wasn't long till we were itching to gig. It felt right & the stars aligned with all of our schedules one night, so we brought a full band to one of our scheduled acoustic gigs. Man did we rock the !@#$in house too! Booked another gig, rocked it. Things rolling on quite nicely, then bam! Bass player gets a new girlfriend & decides he can no longer commit the time to the band. !@#% ME!

OK back to the acoustic shows for awhile.

Fast forward to just this last week. Found a bass player that seems like he's gonna fit fine. He's actually a drummer that also plays bass. He doesn't have one & he's left handed! Oh well, he jammed with us the other night & just used my bass & turned it upside down. Pretty impressive really. So I'll just probably have the nut turned upside down, throw in a strap lock on the bottom of the guitar & let him wail away.

Then the best news of all........Made a contact with a pedal steel player (with 25 years of experience) who can't wait to come & jam with us! Holy #$%! Are you kidding me? A pedal steel player in this part of the world.

Man I am so excited about the prospects of the new lineup. I can hardly contain myself. I hope everything keeps going in this direction. It is so dificult to find musicians around here.

Dang . . . .

The title made me think you'd come to one of my band's shows.
