"789 Chevy" concept car

Really different but will sell no matter. Not cheap though.
Also see the "Chezoom" by Boyd Coddington.

While I am a fan of the cars that the 789 has drawn its inspiration from, I don't care for the 789 at all. While I do like the idea itself...the 789 looks too much of a hodge-podge to me. I like the 59 tailfins....on a real 59. But they ruin this car for me.

WHA? Looks like a C6 convertable interior to me....

Please keep your discussions in the original thread. There is WAY too much clutter around here. (My tongue is firmly in my cheek. Tough with my head so far up my bum)

Maybe we could morph this thread with a Beatles thread, and kill two mockingbirds with one rolling stone.

And here's another reason that I don't care for the 789...

When is the "20-inch wheels" fad going to be over? Man...its an ok look on some cars....but not every single modded hodrod or street rod around.

I had a friend that had a new 5.0 Mustang LS in 1994...highly modified....supercharger, NOS and all...and it was a bad car...with 15x8.5 wheels and 245/50x15s on it. Bad.

Then he bought some new wheels for it...17 x something-or-other...and everyone made fun of him for his car "looking like a 4-wheel-drive".

Now-a-days, that same crew would make fun of him for his wheels being too short.

I love the look of a set of 14x10s on a classic Camero. Or 15x8s on something more recent....it gives the tire a chance to spill over and look fat.

Tires the same thickness as rubberbands...and wear out in 10k miles? No thanks, I'll pass.

20" wheels on concepts always seem to turn into 17" in production.

cool melding of old and new. i like it.

btw, the name reminds me of a joke little kids love:

"Why was 6 afraid of 7"

"Because 7 8 9"

I like the retroness of it, but it's not a smooth mix of the 57/58/59 IMO. It looks like they took photos of each, cut them into three pieces, threw them on the floor and picked a random front, middle and rear.

I love the rear end though - always been a fan of the fins!

It also looks like they wrecked it, and salvaged panels from different cars. The paint job isn't harmonious, it's screwy. I like 2-tone, but that's not it. That's a definite miss for me. I like Foose's statement, that when he works a car he wants people to ask him what he did to it, because that means it all fits and it doesn't look out of place. That whole car looks out of place.

I saw this a few weeks ago and thought how much I'd like it in a deep red. The mixed up colors don't work for me.

When I first glanced at it, I thought it was a chopped '59. Nice car though.
