Kristy

is by far the best looking contestant that American Idol has ever had (does look like she needs a little Nair on the upper lip).

She has not sung one song in tune the entire season.

It's interesting how everyone has such differing opinions - Kristy Lee Cook is the most bland and mediocre of the lot IMO. She has already had two record deals (one major label in Nashville and after that an Indie label) and was dropped from both. You can buy her albums on ITunes.

I'm not sure if I am losing interest since the show has been going on for a while now, or if some of the singers are losing steam. David Archuletta has really started to get tedious with all those "message" songs he keeps singing. I used to look forward to his performances, he is so cute, and since young girls my daughter's ages are the main ones voting he is still a front runner for sure.

I've always enjoyed David Cook and he is extremely talented. He has an amazing voice. I used to like Carly and hoped she would win, it can't be denied she has an amazing voice and range, but right now if I got to pick it David would be my choice.

Here's to hoping next Tuesday they will all come out and really shake things up! I love it when they sing Motown or R & B, I hear Dolly Parton is going to be a mentor next week. I like Dolly as much as the next person, but I sure hope they won't make everyone sing songs she has written. I don't know if I can sit through all the nine contestants singing Dolly Parton songs

I did read a Fox press release today that implied the only songs an the table for next week were Dolly Parton songs. Please, nobody sing "I Will Always Love You" (that means you, Syesha).
Looking at her discography, she did some interesting songs:
Stairway to Heaven
Blowin' in the Wind (w/Nickel Creek)
Imagine - Hey David A., there you go!
Train, Train - Yes, the song that Blackfoot did. David Cook could KILL this
House of the Rising Sun - no comment
Everything is Beautiful in it's own way - except Dolly's version of this song
Seven Bridges Road

I predict "Islands in the Stream" for the elimination night group song

I'll readily admit to having taste that not all people share... I loved Camile Velasco and still think the BEST performance ever on the show was when she sang "until you come back to me".... her career has not taken off after signing with motown... but, I think the right producer could make an amazing album with her..

Kristi Lee Cook has a really good instrument. I know some folks don't think she sings on pitch... I don't think that is accurate, but I accept that she might be bland for some. She just needs a John Boylan type to produce her and force her to take some risks and she could be really interesting... maybe not! She may not be very creative... but, if I were picking someone to mold... it would be her (and she is attractive and appears to have a good head on her shoulders.)

The show is fun (less so this year) because there are so many different kinds of people to root for.

I hope folks do "Coat of Many Colors" "Tennesee mtn home" Archuleta should do "heartbreaker" "Jolene" "Two Doors Down" I hope Kristi has the guts to sing "To Daddy".. that would kill.

Getbent

With all praises due one of the most informed and interesting posters on this forum (is that enough sucking up?), I can't believe you aren't hearing the same thing that my family and I are hearing.

I do agree that it is within reason that Kristy could be the most marketable. Before I started this whole thread (thank you very much), I didn't realize that good looking women with mediocre voices were the choice du jour of Nashville. I honestly thought those women had talent, not just including their looks.

But, Getbent, Kristy has been horrible on each and every one of her songs! Horrible is clearly hyperbole, but it is just trying to make my point. I don't dislike her, I don't dislike her song choices, I'm not out to get her. She just don't have the talent that the other singers do.

I think you are yanking our chains.

KLC is the offical poster gal for vote for the worst.

Here is some more info about the song writing contest.

The lame songwriting contest is back on American Idol this year. Should you enter? Of course not! AmericanIdolExposed has a great site that explains just why you shouldn't waste your time. Among the reasons:

The contest promotes itself as finding "amateur" or "undiscovered" songwriters, but that isn't the case. The winners of the contest last year, Scott Krippayne and Jeff Peabody, had already written 14 number 1 hits and 20 top 10 hits for artists like John Tesh, Jaci Velasquez, and Rebecca Saint James.

10 different songwriters who made the short list last year had prior working relationships with either American Idol judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, American Idol bandleader Rickey Minor, American Idol Host Ryan Seacrest, a former American Idol finalist, or Fox Television.
Idol made $ 250,000 last year by charging each of the 25,000 entrants a $10 fee. Why charge a fee to enter a contest that's rigged for professional songwriters anyway?

Notice how when the voting starts up, the songwriters aren't listed? How have the plants infiltrated everything associated with American Idol? Isn't it about time American Idol stops blatantly lying to its viewers?

I just know where to go to find the info and cut and paste! LOL

AI is a TV show with producers that decide how the show works.

Its not like they want you to believe it is.

Its as fake as WWE wrestling.

Yeah, I thought so. But it is amazing how the performances touted by Simon (which are really so so) always get high numbers. I would not put it beyond the show to have callers or machine callers who help stack the show.

Plus, they NEVER have an accounting firm on hand like the Oscars to verify the results. They don't even claim that. Whose to say they don't pay themselves (by toll call voting) to have a result closer to what they want, especially in the middle phases where we are now.

I believe the votes are real.

Here is hiw I always thought AI was supposed to work.

They are looking for the next new undiscovered talent in the USA between 16-28 years old at the time of the audition.

Kelly Pickler was working at a Sonic Burger resturant as a car hop that was real she had no previous experience. Same with Carrie Underwood she came from a really small town in Oklahoma.

Bo from a couple seasons ago had a band who had already opened for 38 Special Skynard and several other Southern Rock type groups.

Carly Smithson on this years show the Irish gal with the big tat on her arm got a 2.2 million $ record deal and sold 378 albums/cd's. Thats surely not the next new undiscovered talent is it??? She bombed big time and is using Idol to try to make it again.

Thats what I mean when I say its fake. Michael Johns the Aussie guy already had a record deal too but the record company fell apart before they released anything.

The producers know all this stuff before they audition.

I say it should be 100% amatuer with zero experience like Pickler thats what thery lead you to believe so thats the way it should be.

Nothing beats when Simon called Pickler a 'naughty minx' which wound up going right over her head. She is one of the most likeable genuine contestants ever. Glad to see she is hitting it off career wise.

None of the girls this year have that kind of likeability, which makes me think it will be David Cook in the end. A rocker is 'due' to win it all.

Simon influences the vote because people tend to agree with him. thus, the vote. simon has been a successful svengali of pop music for awhile... he knows what people like.

Determining who is a 'ringer' and who is not would require a set of rules longer than Celine Dion's face... it is an entertainment show designed to entertain.... it is nothing more than that...

hmmm maybe KLC could sing "Fancy".... that would drive people crazy! She is the only person chasing the votes of the middle of the country...

Oscar votes are recorded on old fashioned written ballots sent through the mail. They number a few thousand, tops. It's a completely different situation. What point would there be in hiring an accounting firm to monitor the millions of votes recorded by AT&T computers? AT&T is said to have software in place to filter out automated voting. Assuming it works, it would be also be filtering out any automated voting attempted by Fox or the producers.

The calls are toll free. It's the text messages that have a fee, and that fee doesn't got straight into the pockets of Fox and the producers. You can rest assured that AT&T takes a large chunk.

You're suggesting massive criminal fraud by two very large corporations conspiring together. How could this conspiracy possibly serve AT&T and how much could it really do for Fox?

If this vote rigging did exist, would Taylor Hicks really have been allowed to win? Only if extraterrestrials were involved.

Yes. And what would be the point? You're trying to sell records to the public, right? Why not let the singer proven most popular with the public actually win the contest?
