You may want to tell Carrie Underwire that, she in fact did win Idol and then blew the doors off every chart and award Country has to offer.

As for Amanda, I highly doubt she will win as she is too real and not nearly candy coated enough for today's target demographic. But many an artist have made a life of that same one trick.

It's no doubt that Carrie is good...I just wonder if she had to sign her life away to get the record deal as an AI winner. Kelley Clarskson has already fired her management team. From what I hear, record producers are notorious about being in control and taking as much money as they can, especially during the initial phase.

Carrie is talented but I personally am not a fan. I have heard that the runner up actually gets a better deal than the winner.

Well, I think the correct 4 went home last night based on this week's performance. It would be wonderful if they just established a "No Whitney" rule. Maybe even a "No Celine". I think that the contestants should establish their own "No Queen" rule, because the Queen songs on the live show have been disaster.

Have to agree on all counts. I like Amanda, not because she is the best voice, simply because she is atleast a little diff than one face every artists forces on us these days.

I like Amanda too

She is so real. She just has the deer in the headlights look. You can tell she is nervous. If she could just relax a bit and be herself, she might really belt one out. I don't think she is the best, just the most real, as a person.

The worst thing last night was Blake 2nd place winner from last year his beat box style is dead and he is just horrible. Last year wasnt very good this year is slightly better.

There still isnt anyone as good as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

Mark you got that right. That kid was as irritating as a scratchy pot. I'm sure glad the kid with the purple hair and lite loafers is gone. The tiny oriental chick and the dude named Archiletto will be stars. I'm a bit worried about the girl though, will the stress bring her down. She doesn't seem too mature.

I might have to eat my words but I thought the girl was fantastic, love her voice. Archilleto will survive his disaster the girl that did the country version of 8 Days a Week or the guy that used to be a stripper is gone.

that little oriental girl gives them a sweet, restrained take on a beautiful song and they say she's boring. I thought she was the best one tonight.

Chikezie was awesome tonight. It was one of the best "Idol" performances I've ever seen.

David Archuleta blew it -- a bad performance of a questionable arrangement.

Disagree. Cruise ship all the way. She'll be gone.

Also, Dude, oriental is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian-American, please. (Or Philippino-American, or...)

yup. skully is good, skully is right.

thought the 8 days thing was better than what the judges thought... they were just about 10 clicks too fast... some really putrid performances tonight...

I was surprised at how folks could hack up beatles songs...

+1 totally agree she has an incredible tone, I think the judges may be trying to get her to pick it up a bit and not stay in the ballad niche as that can only take you so far.

because they were doing Lennon & McCartney songs...they didn't write "Act Naturally"....somebody help me out, but i think John Russell and Voni Morrison wrote it and of course Buck Owens had the original hit.

she shoulda done "Here, There and Everywhere" with just a touch of country.

the contestants take the judges comments too literally. last week Simon told Archuletta to be more upbeat...what does he do? murders "We Can Work It Out". if he had ignored Simon and done "Yesterday" he would've blown the doors off the place last night.

when you are in the top twelve, you've got to hit the one that's right in your wheelhouse...Archuletta and Kristy Lee Cook swung at bad pitches.

Oops, my bad. I thought it was just Beatles tunes, didn't realize it was John and Paul tunes. That's what happens when you watch it by Tivo...I skip all the patter. Sorry.

Still the wrong song to make a country tune...by far. Chakizee, or however you spell it, hit it out of the park. Agree100%

In terms of song selection, they give them a list of songs from which to choose. I'm sure that they didn't have the whole Lennon-McCartney catalog to choose from. If Kristy wanted to do a country song, "I've Just Seen a Face" would have been a fairly obvious choice, if it was on the list.

I'm really not getting the judges' comments this year. My wife and I watch, and after each performance we say what we thought, then listen to the judges and say "Huh"?

Ramiele did a lovely version of "In My Life", beautiful pitch through the whole song. Fairly safe, but she did a few vocal licks in there, and the judges say that it was boring. Then Brooke does a boring, by-the-book version of Let it Be that I could have done (well, almost), and they love her. I don't get it.

I'm wondering if David Archuleta is a ballad-only guy.

David Hernandez (the ex-stripper) or Kristy needs to go home tonight.

Simon Cowbell: "It was horrendous, you must take chances, show your real personality on stage."

Simon Cowbell: "It was horrendous, you can't take a classic song and destroy it that way."

AAARRRGGGG!!

Perhaps it was because Brooke more convincingly conveyed/connected with the emotion of the song. She did skip the high note -- and she's a girl! Even my wife noticed that.

Brooke is getting a pass cause she's so nice and pretty. She's modestly talented, I would say. You can tell Simon has the hots for her.

She didn't. To my ears and eyes, there was much more emotional content to Ramiele's performance than Brooke's. Brooke's was just flat and boring, very little emotion at all.

I wasn't particularly impressed with Brooke's performance, but it seemed to follow the Hippocratic Oath for Singers (do no harm). For me, Ramiele brought on the pain immediately, with the cheez move of beginning the song gazing up the staircase at the camera.
