Wellllll

Jason has sucked from the start and continues to suck. He should have left before the top 24.

David A. again bores the crap out of me. Every song he sings sounds exactly the same. He starts to sing everyone to sleep right before he turns into a cartoon mouse.

David Cook. He truly believes he's the greatest thing ever. He believes his own hype.

Syesha is my fav and has been for a long while. Why? She's a great singer and it doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous!

Cook and Syesha are the only ones I enjoy, and I didn't really enjoy anything last night. Baba was like coitus interruptus at its worst, just when it's about to kick in, you quit? WTF? Boy did the mix suck on it, too. Way too light.

At this point, I like Syesha's personality more than the others, and she's just as talented. Archuleta bores and annoys me, Jason is going through the motions. It should be Syesha and Cook for the final, but I'm afraid that won't happen.

Heck, voting on Dancing with the Stars keeps the wrong girl on the show week after week. Idol voters aren't known for their keen sense for talent, either.

Hopefully Jason is history. Both songs were bad. Forgetting the words to Mr Tamborine Man should be enough to get him kicked. He didn't forget one or two words, he left out about 2 lines.

I like David Enchilda, I just wish he would show a little stage presence.

Sy did her usual performance, not great, but not bad.

David C didn't sound as good to me as he usually does. Maybe it was because I could hear more of his voice, as the music seemed turned down.

All in all, I don't think any of these folks are going to have the success some of the other Idol winners had.

Abso-freaking-lutely. That was the first thing I noticed during Hungry like the Wolf. Where was the band in the mix?! Maybe it sounded better in person.

Jason had his moments on this show but it's obvious that he's lost interest. As others have said, what a shame to throw away this opportunity. I wish we could get Brooke or KLC or Ramielle or Chekezie back. At least they seemed invested in the outcome.

Again, this show would benefit from employing a choreographer to work with these kids. Syesha is the only one who performs.

David A butchered Elvis. A boy like that should not be singing a man's song. He hasn't done anything remarkable since he did Imagine.

Syesha can hold a tune but she cannot deliver one. Her voice is very thin sounding to me - she gets overpowered by anyone else singing or playing with her.

David Cook is pretty good - pretty powerful voice and good range. Is version of the Duran Duran song was lame. And The Who tune was even more annoying than the real version, although he did hit all those notes.

Jason doing Marley was a disappointment but not surprising. Mr. Tambourine Man is such a tired ass song to begin with who cares if he could sing it. I'm glad Britney Marley is gone though.

Now the story is that Jason Castro (aka: dreadhead) WANTED to be voted off. He can be seen mouthing the works "don't vote" while his telephone numbers are being shown on the screen. Maybe he already had something offered to him, and didn't want to get into a contract with AI. (?) Or, more likely, he was stoned. Probably will be a book written about it, he will become famous, have his own talk show, etc. etc. etc.

this thread is loosin steam fast eh? lots of folks have hung it up and I'm
thinkin it's about cooked...no pun intended..

no surprise Dreadhead got the boot...he looked relieved
guess it's a question of who can bring it on for one more week ....Syeesha
despite Randy Jackson's opinion seems to be the only one with some momentum
and needs to keep it comin..D.A. has become increasingly boring..[ I can't imagine listening to a complete CD of him...mind numbing for sure] ...The Cooker
has to step up to the plate, put down the guitar and get back some intensity
if he's going to overcome the teeny bopper vote

Just wait until next Tuesday. They each have to sing THREE songs! if the pattern from years past holds true, it'll be one they pick themselves, one chosen by the producers and one selected by the judges. judges pick a name out of a hat....ie: Paula might be choosing the song for David Cook, Simon for Syesha, Randy for Archuleta. in the past, Simon's choices have turned out the best.

It's way too late for that. I believe the Top 12 are contractually tied to producer Simon Fuller, 19 Mgmt., etc. Or maybe it's the Top 10, because that's the bunch that goes on the AI tour.

I wonder if they'll give Archuleta a song above 65 bpm on the ol' metronome. That always seems to kill him. Make him sing Travis Tritt's "TROUBLE". That would be worth watching.

I really don't care what happens from here on out, as my favorite voice was Carly. I'd like to see Cook win, because he seems to be the most hungry. I like Syesha's personality, and I like to listen to her on the showtunes, but I don't like her pop side at all. Archuleta is talented, but one-dimensional and not very interesting.

Well, at least the band rocks (when you can hear them) and the backup singers are fantastic. I'd rather listen to them than the contestants.

it sure looks like Jason Castro was ready to go home. he had his moments though. his "Hallelujah" was nice, and i really liked his song from Dolly Parton week: "Travelin' Thru"... my daughter got the full length studio version of it from i-tunes and it is really good. the kid was better in the studio (all to himself) than he was on stage.

he was lousy this week on the show, but i thought his Luna 'Trinity' guitar looked cool:

I was glad to see Castro go. He just never did anything for me. And if he would've stayed, I would've stopped watching.

Wifey and I were talking about Idol a few weeks ago and we agree; whoever wins it may be talented and have a great voice, blaa blaa blaa, but we wouldn't be compelled to buy their CD.

i knew david a was ahead, but not by that much...wow

david cook will have to really step it up to beat david a, and if he just wings it like he did a couple of days ago, he may lose to syesha

david cook is far more developed in style though he lacks the true vocal prowress of david a

but at least david cook is pretty much a finished product, while david a just seems like he hasn't found a niche yet

...but when david a finds his niche, he is way superior to anybody this season....but i have a feeling that david a will remain a work in progress

That is exactly how I see it all going down, especially based on the comments and bias of the judges. When Syesha sang "A Change Is Gonna Come" and Randy dissed it as "just OK for me," I got wind of the Idol agenda. I mean, Syesha isn't my favorite, but her rendition of that song was a great performance. He treated it like garbage, David Archuleta is the pick.

We could disagree all day, of course, about who is a better singer but I don't think Randy's comments revealed any agenda. Not in the way you meant it anyway.

When I was listening to Sy's version of ACIGC I heard a lot of breathy spoken flat notes. I agree 100% w/ Randy. It was just ok.

(BTW, that seems to me to be one of the most common "faults" with AI singers - they have the most trouble it seems with lower register notes and quieter passages of songs. It often comes out sounding "spoken" and not "sung." When Sam Cooke sang, boy, every note was sweet like a bird singing. Though, I will admit that by the time he recorded this, his voice seems to have lost a little of its original lustre.)

The judges seem to be there just to try to create some drama in the show. You have 3 people who are flambouyant with possible scripted responses from the writers...then there's the good cop/bad cop thing going on with Paula and Simon...

Can you smell what the producers are cooking?

I know some of ya'll thought the Odiemann was plum nuts when I announced that I thought the show had some bias from the outset this year in crowning a male idol. The idea that the producers and the "judges" might have an agenda was scoffed at and belittled by some. Well, now after all that great female talent has been pushed off. Let's look at the stacking.

1. It is easier for male singers to sing Neil Diamond, than it is for females to get down with Mariah or Dolly. That is a setup after all the "don't pick such big songs from divas" comments.

2. The air was sucked out of the room and disappointment was abound when Michael Johns was booted.

3. Wouldn't David Archuletta be the "great American Idol story?" The little boy who stalked Kelly Clarkson (the first idol) down to demonstrate his devotion to her and show his prodigal prowess. And it was all captured on video that was show several times during the season.

4. How is Sayesha holding on? She does perform, sings well- and still gets lukewarm comments.

Well, what do you think now? Will we have a male idol?

Scripted? Even bad writers would try to put some variety into the judges comments. If Simon's comments were scripted, I doubt we'd here the cruise ship-Holiday Inn analogy so often. And Paula's comments can be boiled down to phrase I utter to my wife whenever she is about to render her verdict -- "You're a bright shining light."

Apparently, the judges watch the dress rehearsal to help them prepare their comments ahead of time. I think that's as far as it goes.
