Yeah, that was pretty vague, wasn't it. But I also assume it was something along those lines. Apparently Paula was on Seacrest's radio show yesterday explaining what happened. Quotes from it are in the Wash. Post and makes no sense at all. What a surprise. |

One step closer
This brings us closer to an early theory that they are really looking for a male replacement. The voting lag is now getting predictable. The past four weeks have all been pretty much the weakest person who received a chiding from Simon the week before with one exception. Brooke needed a massive week to overcome last time with the lyric failure.
They all but crowned David Cook this week. He has to blow up to lose. Some of the fun is gone for me. The talent pool is really shallow this year. The producers are rigging the game to some degree. Paula's comments from the notes demonstrates that. Simon's demeanor during Brooke's performance was indicative of his desire.

I thought Ryan said at the beginning of the show that the five would sing both songs and then the judges would make comments. Then, after the first song, Ryan asked the judges to comment. No wonder poor little Paula got confused. Could it be that Seacrest may have screwed up also?
Cook is the winner. Turn out the lights and forget about the remaining shows. I'm bored. |

yes, it's been said, but I don't know Archuletta is still there? Must be the teenie bopper votes. Every song he sings, comes of like the song in a kids moving that plays during the closing credits after the uplifting ending.

archuletta is still there and probably the favorite to win it all
i like david cook myself as he is more seasoned even though his voice is only mediocre cook does the grunge thing to perfection but when he's not doing something like grunge, he's kind of out of his element archuletta, while a pop star type of singer, and common as all the pop star voices are and uninteresting per se, can actually hit the notes and runs that the others lack i thought carly simonson had the skills but she got voted off earlier than i thought since i was sure she would come in third place behind cook and archuletta this season may come down to an anticipated ending with the more original david cook vs. the pure singer that david archuletta is while cook will probably remain where he is, archuletta is young and will grow very nicely into his voice and be like a james taylor, but more in a teenie bopper pop star vein those are my guesses from about the first time the final 12 were chosen |

Brooke White going home last night holds true to the sort of delayed reaction syndrome of the voters that's been happening....contestants getting the boot a week after they should have. last week's false-start incident doomed Brooke to her fate this week. next week: Jason
and notice Ryan never said Brooke and Syesha were the "bottom two", just that one of them was "leaving us"....for all we know Syesha could've gotten more votes than any of the guys who were safe. at least next week we won't be subjected to the famous mentor/coach thing...the contestants will pick from a list of "groundbreaking" songs provided by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

syesha has definitely improved and i think she can beat jason castro but has little chance against the two davids
if something amazing happens and syesha lands a song or two perfectly then maybe she can beat david cook, but with all the teenie girl fans, it would be hard to see her surpass david archuletta syesha is basically decent as a vocalist but does not have the intense power of kelly clarkson or fantasia |

Apparently Seacrest addressed this on his radio show. I read about it on EW.com.
The plan was to have the judges only comment after both songs. However, at the halfway point, one of the FOX executives called and said he wanted the judges to critique after the first song. The show was already running a couple minutes over schedule, but they ushered everyone back out on the stage to get some feedback (you could tell this was haphazard). So Seacrest throws it to the judges, and Randy handled it pretty well although he was long-winded about it. Obviously, Paula's not so good on her feet and she panicked. The look of fear on everyone's face and the uncomfortable giggling from the crowd was a classic TV moment. Personally, I believe that she probably listened to the rehearsal and had some notes from it. I don't really think it's that big of a deal -- but it kind of sucks that the kids are being judged on how well they rehearse instead of the performance itself. |

I think Paula had scripted notes to read the producers gave her and she got David Cooks notes mixed uo with Jasons. It was a live show and she had really only heard 1 song the pre written notes and different format of the show is what threw Paula.

I was sorry to see Brooke leave, I like her voice and her sincerity. Among the remaining contestants, I'd like to see Syesha win it all. Jason and David Cook are too much of a one trick pony and I just don't like David Archuletta!

I'm keepin' my fingers crossed and hoping that the 3 judges (and Seacrest) have contractual disputes next year, and are replaced.

I have to give it up for the local boy! David Cook is from Kansas City and I would like to see him do well. Partly for KC, partly for his poor brother (who is really sick) and partly because he has a good voice and plays guitar.

While David Archuletta may be the best "pure" singer of the bunch, he's not an artist and he's about as interesting as watching paint dry. Once you've heard one performance, all the rest sound exactly the same. I can't imagine a whole CD of his performances. I dunno. He's technically perfect, but for me, he's also boring for the most part. Send him to musicals. He will do well there. I liked him at first, but I soon grew very tired of his act.
Syesha belongs in musicals. She's perfect for that stuff. She's not an artist either, in terms of current music, though she's very, very good. She doesn't seem to fit into the current mainstream and I don't think she'd sell records. Jason? Pleasant and totally forgettable--unless he connects with some material that has sone cajones. He hasn't done that yet, so I expect he will be gone soon. Brooke White--well, she's gone, but if I were a producer, I'd like to hear her original songs. If they were good, I'd take a chance on producing a record with her. She's not the technical singer that the others are, but she has an honesty and vulnerability that I think could work for her. She isn't meant to be singing Neil Diamond covers, that's for sure. David Cook, out of all of them, is the only person with any artistic vision that works with the present market. He's the only new millenium artist of the bunch--everybody else is stuck in the 70's. He's not as good, as far as "pure" singers go, as David A, but he communicates much better and is able to make songs interesting. His song selections and what he's done with them is far superior to any of the others, IMO. He has the ability to make a song relevant and interesting, which is why he should win. I expect David A to win, but I think he will go nowhere commercially. David C can sell records and be an artist. Now its just a matter of seeing how America votes and thats a process that I don't have a lot of faith in, frankly. I guess we will know soon enough.
