Michael Johns was really good when he did Otis Redding type songs.
For once KLC wasnt in the bottom 3. Carly will go soon but she is a really good singer I just think she doesnt fit the mold of what people want to see an an American Idol. Wouldnt it be funny if KLC won the whole thing?

I know religious subjects are banned on this forum (as well they should be) however this is not, strictly speaking, a religion topic. This is an appropriateness and sensitivity topic.
I thought my ears were playing tricks on me last night but apparently they were not. The Idolettes sang a song which included the lyrics: “my Jesus, my savior, Lord there is none like you.” And, to make it worse, they sang the exact same song ("Shout to the Lord") the night before (though pre-recorded a few days earlier) with changed lyrics. So, it appears like they capitulated from their initial principles. What would they have done if one of the finalists was Muslim, or Buddhist? It left a very bad taste. IMHO, not appropriate for AI at all. I know many will not see it that way, that I’m being to “PC” but ya gotta err on the right side on these kinds of things. There are a lot of different kinds of people in this world. Sermon over. Oops, sorry, I didn’t mean sermon. |

KLC is marketable. I think country music is more accepting of AI types than other genres. I think Jason Castro is the only performer who has a solid identity. He's a stylist, his range is narrow, but I think that makes him more legit. He's not trying to be this thing or that thing. He not playing rock star (like Cook) or soul diva (like Syesha).

last night proves it's a popularity contest, not a talent show, but we all knew that already.
Michael Johns has had some pretty good moments on there, he was pretty good last night for his farewell song. I would have thought Brooke's time was about up, but she is pretty easy on the eyes, so I guess she can stay. |

I can honestly (and proudly) state, I have never watched more than 5-10 combined minutes of this rubbish. I really don't get the appeal it has, but clearly, I'm in the minority.
Simon? I'd like to punch him in his frikking grill, I can't stand to even look at that schmuck.

Oh, and the majority want to punch Simon in his frikking grill. I really liked Jason's performance. Carly can do no wrong as far as I am concerned and I thought she looked beautiful tonight. Brooke was weak. I like David Cook but for a change I think Jason did a better job. Kristy Lee Cook did very well Last edited by blue water girl : April 15th, 2008 at 10:03 PM. |

Predictions from a verified crappy singer....me:)
Enchilada...great as always, but he still seems star-struck Tatoo girl...bottom 3 Sayeecha...bottom 3 Brooke...bottom 3 KLC...must be taking singing lessons DC...will get his own record deal after AI is over Dreadhead...not my cup-o-tea, but boy-band material Brooke will probably go... |

David Cook and Jason Castro owned the night. Archaletto is such a predictable one-trick pony that I've really grown tired of him. Syesha yelled for 90 seconds and was completely forgettable. Brooke at least demonstrated the ability to play an instrument while being totally white-bread. Carly was okay, I thought she was better than the judges opined. KLC will sell some country records, and posters. The more mainstream radio country she goes, the better off she is. I think that Syesha and Brooke are the two in the most trouble.
That said, I can't stand Mariah Carey's stuff. I'm glad that night is over. |

All three fellas should be safe after last night.
so who goes home.... my guess is Kristy Lee is safe (again) and the bottom three will be Brooke, Carly, Syesha....none of whom would surprise me if they got the boot.

How many are left? 7?
Best to worst last night:
Women: Best - Carly Women: Tied for Worst - Brooke (ugh) and Syesha (double ugh) Women: Worstest - Kristy. Come on guys, stop jiving me. Men: Best - Enchilada - I'm not a fan, but close your eyes and listen to him sing. He was great last night. Men: Tied for second: Jason and Dave Cook. I really can't stand the way Simon and the judges fawn over Dave Cook. Last night, as Cook was singing, I was thinking, "this is terrible", and "I'm sick of the grunge sound". I think Jason is way underrated. He is unique, where Cook is not. |

Castro and Kristi Lee were the best last night.
Eric, I think if you were a judge you'd be just like Simon. Randy is so clearly trying to 'aim' this year he is isn't worth listening to, Paula... nevermind (she slept with Charlie Sheen so credibility is not exactly her thing).... The song KLC sang last night could be a hit.

I grew tired of Archaletta a long time ago.
Also tired of David Cook's grunge act. Billie Jean was good. The rest has ranged from very so-so to terrible. Dreadhead boy is ok for what he is but I don't see him selling records. Let's just call the whole thing quits and give the trophy to the Irish girl so we can all go home. |

I actually like Simon. I heard an NPR interview with him a few years ago, I think it was on Fresh Air, and he was interesting. Amazingly enough, he said he dislikes most pop music and the direction singers like Mariah Carey have taken it--full of melismas and no melody.
For a lot of the people on the show, he's the first person who has ever told them that they're not as good as they think they are. You get a lot of singers who have parents who are blinded (or should that be deafened?) by their love that they can't tell the kid that s/he sucks. So they live with the illusion that they're good. I'd rather have a judge like Simon who will tell you what was good and what was not good, than to have a judge like Paula who just likes what you're wearing and is trying to fit in her "Word a Day Calendar" word for today. As a music major in college, we got ripped new orifices by professors and other students in our repertoire classes every week--and it made us better. You don't get an "A" for effort, you get it for success. |

OK Check it out....Dawgs
Archuleta...sounds good singing girls songs...kinda Neil Sadaka..ish Carly...nice song ...looked great , obviously took Simons advice on dressing Syesha...clone drone to the bone...bottom 3 could be toast Brooke...I like her ..plays guitar, piano, looks great and has her own singing style....she needs to get over her obvious nerves...bottom 3 but stays Kristy Lee...another beauty ...thats where it ends...bottom 3 outa here David Cook...keeps on changin it up and makin it good...gonna win it all Castro...disastro...Randy got it right..stick him in a beach movie with a Ziggy Marly soundtrack...sadly sticking around for another round of shmaltz. |

How funny is that? Let's give the "American Idol" title to the "Irish" girl.
Anyway, the bottom 3 should be KLC, Archuletta, and Brooke. However, Sayeesha will be there and one of the other three will escape. My bettin' man inside would pick Brooke as the goner with best odds to make money on it. Castro and Brooke ought to package themselves together, same folky appeal. David Cooke just needs to do something original for the next few weeks and he may well win. Carly needs to get on even keel. She should win, even though I wonder why she is on American Idol.
