I'd never heard of Willie Nelson when I bought this back in the '70's, looked interesting.

Ditto for this one.

The covers of these two albums had me hooked for some reason...
I'm sure there are others if I really thought about it.

Got it for $1 at a vintage shop, immediately went into an LP picture frame and on the wall.

I think I still have at least the 3D cover for Their Satanic Majesties Request. Now I have to go and look.

Yuppers...

The original "Mom's Apple Pie", and Steppenwolf's "For Ladies Only" (for the inside cover)- neither of which can be posted here.

I bought Roy's "Loading Zone" for the cover...I have it framed and hanging. I found a copy on ebay with a nicer cover than the one I already had.

The "rooster" cover was the band called Ambergris. Masterfleet was heavy duty synth-funk. Rodriguez was a solo acoustic act, and this album saw resurgence in Australia, so much so that it has been reissued on CD. All bought without a clue as to their content, and I liked them all.

As for the three Motorheads, no reason is necessary to the initiated; and no explanation is sufficient for the nonbelievers.

The James Gang , 'Yer Album . I had no idea what was inside , but there was this crazy looking guy on the back that was holding a very small pot plant . He had a very silly look on his face . Blind Faith was another that I had no idea of the treasures inside .

I bought this for the cover. I'd never heard of the band yet (Stand Up, Benefit etc. were yet to be released). I bought it because well, what could a group sound like if they looked like this?

I was well aware of the artists on these next two. The first one I thought looked totally corny, but the music is great. The second... well how could a guitar player not be at least curious?

I traded baseball cards when I was a wee tot for this album. I thought the cover was really cool. A friend of mine told me they were " satanic." He said AC/DC stood for " After Christ, lightning strikes, Devil Comes." Little did I know it came from a sewing machine. I am not quite sure which is more shocking.

Back before I had a family, my buddy and I would go to Streetside in Kansas City on payday and buy a bunch of music. Every once in a while we'd get one just for the cover art. We called it a "scattershot", and this is still the best one I ever bought:

Oh yeah, I had that crazy Steppenwolf album. Makes me laugh even today. The music kind of sucked but the album art was outrageous.

My great purchase (for a 17-year-old) was the Wilding-Bonus jazz album with a row of naked women laid out like a landscape. Hey, I was 17 and didn't care a bit about jazz but that album cover was smokin'! I STILL can't believe they got away with that cover.

This is the lame mid-1970's version of the band from the old "Andy Griffith Show" in the throes of L.A. country-rock with cheezy synthesizers. But the cover is AWESOME and includes a board game on the inside gateway fold with instructions that include using a roach-clip for game pieces.

how about every album from Molly Hatchet? I have no idea where mine are, but I used to buy their albums more for the album art than anything else....

I bought an Emmylou Harris album, the one featuring la Harris on the back voer with the sun shining through her skirt.

A friend commented in a breathy voice that "this....is the greatest album ever made" and we hadn't put it on the turntable yet.

Somewhat offtopic, another friend and I had huge crushes on the soprano Montserrat Figueras from listening to her voice. This was long before we had any idea what she looked like.

When we actually got our hot little hands on some photos we went seriously nuts for a while.
