Bill Lawrence's Shop Gallery

Here is a link to a few pictures I took of Bill Lawrence's Shop. This is where the Keystones and many other pickups are made in Corona California USA.

Bill Lawrence's Shop

He makes everything himself including cutting the alnico poles and tumbling them.

A true "Made in the USA" product

Nice WORK!
I always thought he had a much bigger shop like a small factory?

Arlo does Bill make any pickups for Dean or any other guitar maker
these days?

Bill holds the patent on the SCN pickups used in Fender guitars. He doesn't make them but he developed them and licensed the patent to Fender from what I have been told.

He is negotiating with one of the big 2 right now for a new design.

To me his new twin blades are something that will be a real eye opener. The sparkle they produce is absolutely stunning.

His shop is bigger than it was from what I have been told. There are 5 people working there.

Bill, Becky, Rodger, Nadine and her husband.

Talk about TLC these pickups are practically kissed and tucked in every night. Bill is a workaholic and he is always calculating a new design. Sometimes he designs it in his head and goes in the next day and builds it. I gotta tell you for his age the man has some energy.

Any news on the tele neck pickup chrome cover? I checked a couple of months back and it was not available yet.

What new "twin blades"?

what's the deal on that Tele control plate?

The link has some pics of a Tele control plate, looks like there is an inductor or something in between the pots?

I wonder if, upon entering, I would find myself whispering. With my hat doffed.

Cool post, Arlo!

That's Bill's "Q-Filter," which improves the tone control. From what I understand, it actually allows tonal control, instead of just rolling off highs.

Bill & Duck Dunn

Looks like Bill is jamming with one of my bass heroes:

BTW - is that black cube between the pots a Q-filter?

Yep, the black thingy is the Q Filter. The way it's wired there reshapes the EQ. As said above, it's a real tone control, not just rolling off highs.

You can also wire it without the cap and resistor to lower the inductance of the pickups. This mellows the output, which is really cool.

Awesome pics, Arlo. Thanks! It's nice to see where my favorite pickups come from.

I still remember my amazement a few years ago the first time I called with a question and Becky put Bill on the phone. He educated me for 30 minutes! What a guy.

Excellent explanation of the Q filter. I am going to be installing one so I will give an audible example soon.

I have Bill on video demonstrating the Q in his shop. Outstanding stuff and You Tube videos are coming soon!

Dang I was either drinking too much tequila or mi spel cheka iz bustid.

Thanks for the pics. I tried making my own pickups once. It didn't go very well. lol It's a real art.

Maybe someone can help me with this.... When I go to his website, I can't seem to find any prices or ordering information. How does one go about ordering his pickups?
