I hate to bring it up, but since "your tone is in your fingers" we'll all get buried with out instruments.

Try not to waste a good instrument by asking to be buried with it. It's a pointless gesture that only a grave robber would appreciate.

Jimi, Man I love Les! It wasn't meant with contempt. If he gets any kickback from selling those namesake's of his, he's made a bundle off me.

Flat, I bust Yngwie, not because I could outplay him, but because he's an egomaniac, and treats guys like you & I with less respect than a turd he's stepped on. Plus, it was completely in jest!

I'm sorry, because my first response was that this was a hate thread: "What musicians are so dreadful that we'd do well to off them, bury them, and throw their instrument into their grave along with them."

I don't think he does. If you search YouTube, there is a video that takes you into his home and studio, and the man (a living legend) lives in a rather average middle-class home. To me, it looked like it needed a paint job.

If every musician making a living with a Gibson Les Paul (or, one might even say, any dual hummer beast) were to send him 1/10th of 1% of their musical earnings, he'd be the richest musician in America.

Actually, you might even throw in those using Fender and Fender-style products, because it was Les who was the first real modern electric guitarist with any kind of public persona. He opened a door for all who followed.

I understand that he did get a royalty off every Les Paul guitar that Gibson sold, and his Estate probably will as well. I don't wish to speak ill of the dead, but I hear he lived modestly, saved well, and did not make what he considered needless expenditures. Draw your own conclusions.

Joe Satriani/Steve Vai - and go ahead and bury them with every pointy guitar ever produced.

Och, tamale. I'm sure some of my neighbors would like to have me on this list if they knew about it.

This seems like a harmless enough thread.

Is this the one where you're not allowed to say anything nice about a fellow player?

Do I ever agree 110%. I thought this thread was a bit harsh and disrespectful until I read the above!
