I'm thinking about getting myself a Hagstrom
And I'm talking about their new models. I am really a Gibson kind of player but I miss the Vibrato that my strat gives me. Hagstrom offers guitars that have the Gibson Scale length, humbuckers and a strat vibrato.
![]() And they also offer them with P90 pickups. ![]() So does anybody have experience with these?

I played one on saturday while I was testing out some E-H pedals. The neck seemed quite thin, but I really liked the profile of it. The action felt good but could still have been lowered a touch.
the one I played had humbuckers in it, I didn't pay too much attention to it, I was more focused on the pedals, but I liked the sound I got from it. I mostly used the clean chanel of the amp while I was testing, but I think it would be a good purchase. See if you can find one to try out for a bit, that'll let you know for sure. |

The other guitarist in my blues band bought one similar a few months back. His is a 3 single coil setup in the same body, seems like his has a stop-tailpiece bridge.
He got his as a blem from the manufacturer, apparently the fingerboard is some sort of composite material that is designed to emulate ebony without the deadspots in tone found with ebony. The manufacturer had some problems with some of the dye used with some fingerboards, and decided to sell the guitars at a discount. The fingerboard is a bit odd looking, and the pickups were not to my buddy's liking, so they were replaced. However, it's a good player, and one of his favorites in his ever-growing stable. The cosmetics are a bit...odd? It's kinda an SG, kinda a Strat, has a 3+3 headstock, the fingerboard is a funky reddish color...I guess it's cool, but I don't know that I would have bought it, even at the low price his was. I'd rather have an Epiphone G-400 SG for about the same money. |

I played their viking a few weeks ago at a local music store. The neck is kind of thin, but I'm okay with that. The action was great and good tones, but it was the heaviest guitar I've picked up in a while.
