I have the exact same problem and I've just put up with it all this time. Hmmm, maybe I'd better do a search and see what I can find to fix it. If others have this problem maybe there's a fix. I'd sure love one.

Can you explain what you mean? It's unclear, do you mean by running Windows update manually you can download a virus?

OK, I did some searching and found that this is a common problem. However, it turns out to be a problem with Firefox users that also use the Google Toolbar not really a Firefox problem.

If you uninstall or deactivate the Google Toolbar it will fix this problem in Firefox.

Both Google and Mozilla Firefox are aware of this problem and working on fixes. There is a registry fix that fixes the problem and I've just applied it and it works fine. If you are ok with modifying the registry on your computer this will fix the problem -- at least until you apply another Firefox update at which time you have to reapply the reg fix.

I have this fix in a file format and if you want it email me at webmaster@tdpric.om and I'll send it to you. Once you get it on your computer you simply right click on the file and sellect "Merge" and it will fix this problem.

Oh... one more thing. Google Adblock causes the problem too. Not just the Toolbar.

Tony, you need Safari 3. All those memory leaks are history. I use Camino for sites that just don't work with Safari.

Appreciate that, Mark, but I upgraded to Safari 3 recently and was disappointed to find little or no improvement. I also installed Camino a while ago, which seemed promising, but some of the sites I visit regularly, such as my on-line banking service, weren't set up to support it, so I abandoned it.
