Nels Cline appreciation

I have been a fan of Nels Cline for sometime now. He never ceases to amaze and inspire me. Now I admit he is not for everyone, but I dig him. I was just reading through his tech page on his site, and although it is a bit dated it is very interesting. Check the linky below. I really enjoyed his section on amps and how he threw caution to the wind and played whatever was available on a particular tour. I like his attitude on the matter.

I just have to get to see him live someday.

i saw him with Wilco last year. I recently noticed they are coming back through town here in March... hope Nels is still with them on this tour. He's alot of fun to watch.

I love Nels!! I have only discovered his work in the last year or so. I honestly like his stuff with Wilco the best...

He plays a Jazzmaster like no other!! Pure magic.

Amp Du Jour was a fun read.

That sounds like an exciting live music experiment... hit the road and see what amps you're radnomly served with :)

Nels is immensely talented and fun to watch wail, but he's not entirely my cup of tea. I've seen him with Wilco now a couple times over the past 3 or 4 years, but they've gotten way too jammy for my tastes. They're still a very good band, but I'm not nearly in love with them like I was from around '95 through 2000.

I'm a huge Nels Cline fan. I caught him with Wilco in late August...amazing show.

Well...now I've sat here for 15 minutes trying to describe what I like about Nels Cline, but it's hard to describe and I keep deleting what I type.

Rock, jazz, punk, roots, experimental...what's not to like?

My first exposure to Nels was through the Mike Watt album Ballhog or Bugboat? The songs he plays on it are real nifty. I also like the female singer on a couple of tracks of that album, Carla Bozulich, she's great on Sidemouse Advice, but that's a different topic methinks.
