New: Carvin SH-550 Semi-hollow

Howdy,

Today I recieved a new Carvin catalog. On the cover was a stunning semi-hollow guitar: The SH-550. For $1,600, it got my attention. Does anyone own one of these yet? I'd love to hear about it.

I've been getting Carvin catalogs since about '73, and this one really caught my eye. The one on the inside of the catalog in the red finish with all the electronics didn't, but that sunburst single-cut semi-hollow just looked nice, nice, nice.

Their build quality has always been first rate- it's nice to see their design step up as well. I'd love to try one of those with a spruce top!

I got an email a couple weeks ago about the new ones. They caught my attention too.

I've only had my hands on one Carvin, a flame carved top dyed green. And it was very nice.

I've owned 3 Carvins... I still have 2, and if one had not been stolen, I'd still have 3. Carvin's quality is excellent imo. Carvin recently added the option of choosing between 3 fretboard radii: 10, 12(Standard), and 14. I had already checked out the build options on these SH models and the optional radii are available on these. Yeah, I'll take mine in 10, please...

I own two Carvins and have another being built now. I see an SH-575 in my future.
