Opening For Marty Stuart On July 17, 2008!!

Finally...an honest to God dream come true will be taking place when the band I formerly played lead guitar in (Irons In The Fire) here where I live will be opening for Marty Stuart in Hiawassee, GA on July 17, 2008!! I'll be making an appearance with Irons (I left them back a couple of months ago due to exhaustion and the band's schedule kept interferring with a gig I do down in Morganton, GA on the weekends) and I'm stoked about the gig!! I'm hoping to finally get to see "Clarence" up close and personal and I wanna ask Marty 'bout seeing and possibly playing "Clarence" and I'm wondering if you all might have any tips to offer? We're doing two shows that day (2:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m.) and I figure that either before or after the afternoon show will be the best time to ask about seeing/playing "Clarence".

Any opinions??

Good for you. That is great news and I hope "Clarence" finds his way to you to play. That would really be cool.

Don't forget to chat with Kenny Vaughan too. He is an unbelievable picker as well. Marty's Band is the tightest in country music, picking, harmonies, etc. They blow everybody else away, and with 4 pieces. Not to mention the classiest guys in the business.

Absolutely!!! Be prepared to be impressed!
My only advice to you as an opening act it to try to compliment them cause you ain't gonna beat them!

Awww, you guys quit it

Tony, that is SO DANG COOL! First off have yourself an absolute blast and just be yourself! Be your friendly normal self and I bet you dollars to donuts, if timing permits, he'll let you check out Clarence. All of that neato music stuff he does and has done aside....he's a really, really great guy

Have fun and you better be sure to post a good review for us!

Just got in from seeing Marty here in Augusta, GA. Yeah, he will let you play Clarence but only after the show and only if show some class and have an "IN" to get backstage before the load out begins. Got a couple pickguards signed, got some picks...you know, the usual stuff. He has a new bass player that is just incredible. Actually, tonight was his first night.
