A signature guitar I actually want

I'm not gonna buy this. Heck, I can't afford it or justify spending that much money on a guitar. But it's a super cool looking thing. I've always suspected Dave Grohl would have a signature of his Trini Lopez someday.

Good looking guitar. Never heard of Dave Grohl.

Guess I'd have to follow The Foo Fighters to know about him.

One of my many idols. Saw Foo Fighters live 3 times. It's based on the Trini Lopez. I remember reading about how Dave wanted a pelham blue trini lopez and aparently they're so rare.

He was also the drummer in a little band from Seattle called Nirvana.

This is Dave Grohl doing a cover of stairway to heaven. Probably the best cover of that song that I know of.

I read after the last album Dave wanted a blue Trini and he was saying if anyone out there has one he'd buy it. I think the one he's playing in the videos and live is a custom shop which makes me think he didn't find one out there.
I would like to see it in black.

I'm a huge Foo Fighter fan and he's a real rocker which is rare now....but I gotta say, I really hate the new album.

Nir... who na?

Did the Seattle pawn shops all go out of business? Or was that just Kurt who bought his guitars there?

Anyone know what a Foo Fighter is? Anyone? Anyone? It's the military's original designation for a UFO.

Nirvana

Just listening to the big Nirvana album; Dave is a fine drummer, I'd say.

I've seen the Foo fighters Live twice and all i've ever seem him use is a Dan Armstrong/Ampeg Plexi guitar and various Gibson Explorers.....

never seen him use that one before.

anyway...great rock singer/guitarist! it's about time a guitar company brought out a signature guitar for someone who deserves it.

The avril lavigne and derek whibley tele's they brought out recently anoyed me abit.

Cool....makes more sense than a Keifer Sutherland "inspired" guitar anyway, but Gibson stuff is BEYOND spendy....

On a side note, two years ago today I saw Weezer (one of my FAVORITE bands) alongside the Foo Fighters in Phoenix. Great show.

I saw Queens of the Stone Age when he was drumming for them. He's monster drummer, a pretty dang good front man, and is on my list if 10 famous people I'd like to have beers with.

I also read that, in Guitar World. He said in a later issue that he found one, and it cost him a "pretty penny." He may well be playing a custom job live (the original would be a b**** to have stolen), but he apparently found an original in "Pelham Blue."

It's kind of funny because if you search for Foo Fighter, the Wiki page that comes up is about the WWII UFOs, not the band.

I don't like his sig' model......, but I do share his love of the Trini Lopez model! I would own one of them in a flash if I could afford it?

Awesome! I love it when he turns around and asks his drummer what the next line is! Reminds me of every time I've ever tried to play that song with other people. I love how they bring it home at the end, making fun of it and paying hommage at the same time. His "guitar solo" was brilliant.

A real good example of why it's important to learn a song from start to finish. People laugh about the Wayne's World "No Stairway to Heaven" sign in the music store, but so very, very few people actually know every part of it. It's an impressive piece of music...

I personally like to do a Bossa Nova version with my band for kicks

About the foo fighters.

Nirvana in 1994, Dave Grohl, Kurt Cobain, Chris Novoselic and live guitarist Pat Smear.

"Seasons in the sun"
Probably the last known Nirvana recording prior to Cobain's death, here they did the switcheroo, Cobain plays drums, Novoselic plays guitar and Grohl plays bass. Evident in this video is Grohl's sense of humor. something he employed in all of the Foo Fighter's work and music videos.

Nirvana producer Butch Vig said about Dave Grohl that he had a voice with very similar qualities as Kurt Cobain's and that he didn't find it too surprising that the Foo Fighters would be a succesful band. As for why they continued with the alternative Rock that they played with Nirvana Grohl was reported saying "What, did you expect me to form a reggae band?

"This is a call"
This is very early footage of the first line up of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl still has his "Drummer-from-Nirvana" look. The line up consisted of fellow Nirvana member Pat Smear on guitar, Nate Mendel on bass and William Goldsmith on drums. Although none of them played on the debut album which was done completely by Grohl himself.

"Walking after you"
One of the most beautiful ballads the band has in their list. This is the band's third line up, Pat Smear was replaced by Franz Stahl and William Goldsmith was replaced by Taylor Hawkins.

"Learn to fly"
At the time this video was shot, the Foo Fighters were a trio, Franz Stahl (their second guitarist) left the band and his replacement and current Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shifflet wasn't in the picture yet. Grohl, bassplayer Nate Mendel and Drummer Taylor Hawkins all play double roles in this funny video and take a good look at who the guy with the cofee machine is at the beginning of the video. Note how Grohl plays his red Trini Lopez in this video.

"Darling Nikki"
A cover of the imfamous Prince song on the MTV awards after party 2007 with soul singer Gnarls Barkley on vocals. Dave plays his Blue signature Gibson in this performance.

I think that guitar is very nice, the Firebird-esq headstock is a nice touch IMO, and not one that would have occured to me.

Dave Grohl is a great musician and frontman as far as I'm concerned, I went to see the Foo's on their previous tour, and they were spectacular, both musically and in presence, seemed like a nice guy too, as much as I could tell from watching him talking to the crowd.

I think he's an incredibly underrated drummer as well.
