I bought the Black Crowes reunion tour live DVD...

And it ROCKS!

I always was a fan of the Crowes but after Mark Ford left my interrest in them waned. Still "Shake your money maker" and "Amorica" are two of my all time favorite albums and were very influencial in the shaping of my own style, learning every single lick from those songs.

So when I saw the DVD of the reunion tour in the bargain bin of my local Record store I went "Let me at that!"

Boy, talk about getting your money's worth. Mark Ford and Rich Robinson have this incredible magic going on. I couldn't help but to grab my strat and play along and pretend to be there with them on stage, I KNOW the songs, I KNOW the licks by heart. I just closed my eyes and rocked along with them.

This is a DVD that will get a LOT of play.

Nice. Going to see Marc Ford tonight, playing with The Swedish Models.

I think it's one of the best live DVDs out there.

I just wish they would have stuck with straight concert footage instead of the little "walk around San Fran" montage they put in.

Great DVD, Marc Ford rules! And he plays a great collection of guitars in this concert. I wish he'd stick with the Crowes, they make each other so much better.

I actually like the trippy San Francisco scenes, reminds me of good times when I visited that beautiful city. To each their own...

By the way, is "Lost Crowes" any good? A double CD costs $35cdn at HMV, how does it rate compared to their other stuff? Or was it unreleased for a reason and should I save my money?

The funkiest of all the guitars Mark Ford played?

The chipped tele he employed on "Wiser time" it used to a blonde one but almost all of the finish was chipped off.

The Black Crowes performing "wiser time" on Glastonbury in 1995 look how Mark Ford's blonde Les Paul changes into a black one...

There are two separate discs:

"Tall" - recorded before Amorica. Good tunes, but eight of them (I think, I can't remember for sure) wound up on "Amorica" and one on "Three Snakes." The others are pretty cool songs. "Tornado" and "Thunderstorm 654" come to mind as ones I really like.

"Band" was recorded after "Three Snakes"...I really dig quite a few songs on this one. "Another Roadside Tragedy", "Paint An 8", "Predictable" and "Wyoming And Me" are some that stick out in my mind.

What I'd like to recommend to everyone is Instant Live. They have a boatload of Black Crowes live concerts - and at good prices. I have the 21, 22, & 23 Oct 05 shows at the Ford Theater...AWESOME!!! It's the full show - mistakes and all. The way a live album should be. The 22 Oct show has a fantastic version of "Thorn In My Pride" that I could listen to forever.

Crowes

The Black Crowes DVD is on my top 5 greatest DVD's so far. Good sound, great guitars & amps.

The Lost Crowes double C.D. set is really good. Great sound quality. I've listened to it over 10x now. A bunch of the songs have appeared on their albums but sound abit different. Some really good country kind of stuff on some of it.
I got mine NEW for $19.99. I don't think I'd pay more than $25 for it...I'd get it new on the Internet I were you.

Casting my vote for Lost Crowes....buy it. It's fantastic. Some early version that morphed into very different songs, some new stuff, all good. I've been listening to it incessantly for a week, and can't stop....
