Barry Bonds: 756

Will he hit it tonight?

I'm rooting for him!

Why's everybody so down on him? He's a family man and has his wife and kids at every game. His son is in the dugout with him in a uniform.
He doesn't seem worried about the accusations or sunk out of the spotlight like McGuire has.

Doesn't matter. A-Rod is going to be the Home Run King in a few years. And He's going to do it without the help of Steroids.

I really don't have a problem with Bonds treatment of the media, their a bunch of jerks who ask stupid questions all the time. My problem with Bonds is how he treats the fans. The Kid that caught #755 was in the clubhouse after the game and Bonds wouldn't even acknowledge he was there. That's the kind of crap that turns people off, and I'm one of them. Hey Bonds, no fans=no baseball, no big salary.

I was really hoping he would have a career-ending injury before he hit 755.

To quote my favorite singer/songwriter, I think tonight's the night, chet.

As a life-long Giants fan, it's been great watching every one of my team's games over the past couple weeks. The downside, of course, is they suck this year, and I've been staying up way too late watching them find different ways to lose games.

I'll be happy for Barry when he finally gets the record, but I'll also be relieved that he and the Giants can go back to playing baseball instead of gearing everything around getting the record.

LOL, first pitch is in one minute, and the WNBA game on ESPN2 just went into double OT.

Wonder if anyone on either team is named Heidi.

even if he gets #756...all I`m gonna see here is the tater Matsui smacked...or the hit Ichiro got. As far as they`re concerned Sadaharu Oh is the home run king.

Bonds is going to break the record, but Henry Aaron broke down barriers. The Hammer is a class act and I don't think he'll be marginalized in the history books.

Whether or not Bonds has taken steroids, it takes a lot of skill to hit the ball. Muscles aren't all of it. I reluctantly have to give him some credit.

Local, writer was talking about it on the Radio the morning after 755. He witnessed it first hand while covering it for the local newspaper. He's not one of the jerks I was talking about, He's a class act here in Cincinnati. Believe what you want. It really doesn't make any difference anyway.

Nope, just the fact that I can look at his body and see a normal athlete's body. Not a bloated head , neck and torso that shows up in people who have been on steroids.

Besides, do you really think with whats been going on the last couple years with investigations of steroid use in MLB, that A-Rod would be using Steroids? I'd be looking at players who have fallen way off their home run production. These would be the guys I would suspect of former Steroid use, not a guy who has stepped up his production like A-Rod.

From Mitch Albom--Detroit free Press:

Just look at the evidence

Now perhaps you are one who says, “Leave Barry alone.” Perhaps you say, “He’s the record holder; show him respect.” Perhaps, because Bonds has never failed a steroids test (although we don’t know how many he has taken), you wish to give him the benefit of the doubt.

That’s fine. That is your right.

But know what you choose to ignore.

You choose to ignore numerous published reports -- including a book that took two years of research and hundreds of interviews -- that claim Bonds used steroids for years, including stanozolol, the same drug that got Ben Johnson tossed from the Olympics, testosterone decanoate, insulin, human growth hormone, and even trenbolone, which is more often used with cattle.

You choose to ignore claims that Bonds took up to 20 pills a day and injected himself with his drugs.

You choose to ignore the undeniable change in Bonds’ appearance, the thickened arm, shoulder and neck muscles. You choose to ignore his enlarged head, even though normal human adults almost never see their head size grow (unless they are taking steroids).

You choose to ignore the mind-boggling fact that, for his first 13 seasons, Bonds averaged 32 home runs and a .290 batting average, but, beginning when he was 34 -- an age that foreshadows retirement for many ballplayers -- Bonds somehow averaged 49 home runs and a .329 average for the next six seasons.

You choose to ignore that Bonds, who, in his 20s, never hit more than 46 home runs a year, suddenly, when he was 37, hit 73 in one season.

You choose to ignore that the man who allegedly supplied Bonds with all this stuff pleaded guilty to steroid distribution and went to jail, that Bonds’ former mistress has made claims about his steroid use, that the Tigers’ Gary Sheffield, who trained with Bonds, admitted using the so-called cream and clear substances -- two alleged designer steroids distributed by BALCO labs -- before bolting the program.

You choose to ignore the common-sense argument that players don’t suddenly become more powerful and more productive as they approach 40.

Yep I know the pitcher was going to throw one right down Barry's Wheel house and that was pitchers mistake and Barry took him to the deepest part of the yard.

So I just talked to the drummer I work with and he is sitting just above the Giants dugout. He really got lucky, as he bought these tickets a couple of months ago. Said he got some great pictures, when he sends them to me I'll post 'em for you guys.
I wish I could have went.
