8 games straight is NOT easy baseball. Especially with the Yankees gorgeous (joking, seriously) bullpen.

I like A-Rod & Jeter. A-Rod's the best payer on the planet right now.

I also get every game on cable so it's easy to follow both teams.

Yeah they play the Jays tomorrow Night. Then have a 4 game series against Tampa Bay Devil Rays for the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The go to Kansas City Royals for Monday through Thursday (23 through 26)and go to Baltimore Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (27th through the 29th) Before they finally get a day before playing the Chicago White Sox's on the 31st.

I think today's Bluejay game is a day game. That's what the announcers said during the game last night.

Maybe. Boston is looking pretty mortal (lost 2 of 3 against the KC Royals, I think they got swept by the Tigers earlier this season). Hopefully Boston will also have some trouble against my team (Chicago White Sox) starting tonight.

Having grown up and still living in Massachusetts it's been tough to be Yankees fan, but there are a bunch of us here.
Well, you can hate them if you want. Amazing how many foam at the mouth at the mention of the team with the greatest history. Oh well, I can understand your jealousy. It's okay. Be stoic when you win, humble when you lose.

By the way, what's the Red Sox total payroll. Hmmm, I think it's pretty close to the Yankees. Oh yeah, they also spent a small fortune on, ah, hmm, what's his name? Oh yeah, No-Dice K!

The Yanks lost a tough one today but you knew they wouldn't win every game. They need to sit Johnny Damon on the bench as much as I hate to say it.

Dice-K will be fine. The ones that I'm pissed about are Drew and Lugo. The guys we let go for these two clowns have both played better than either of them. Gonzales is one of, if not the best defensive SS in the game and he's having a pretty good offensive year too.

The great thing about the Sox is that they always get rid of great players who go on and have wonderful careers with other teams. Won't talk about Babe Ruth, but let's see... hmmm, Carlton Fiske, Wade Boggs, Roger Clemens... Oh, I could go on, but don't worry, the BoSox will shed a few more as they struggle to stay on top. They'll dump No-Dice K if he doesn't start winning close to 20 games. You can have 27 Ks in a game, but if you don't win it, no one cares.

Pitching isn't this team's problem. They aren't getting any clutch hitting. The HR's for Manny and Ortiz are way down from last year and the team is hitting .219 with men in scoring position since early June. Nobody's gonna win much with those numbers.

They won't get rid off Dice-K. I give him the benefit of the doubt this year. Beckett had everyone talking last year about it being a lousy trade, but it looks pretty good now. One thing I have to say about getting rid of good players who go on to have success elsewhere is that Clemens needed to go. When they let him go he was basically a .500 pitcher the last 3 years he was here. I thought at the time it was a good move. I don't think anyone could have predicted what he would do later on.

Woo-hoo!

Boston wins big, and NYY is trailing by 10 runs late.

Looks like it's going back to 8 games. Hopefully, it'll be back to double-digits by this weekend.

I will confess, I'm worried the Stankees will come back. But even if they do, if they fall short of winning it all, I'll still be happy. I hate them so, they give me so much joy when they LOSE!

Mariner's fan here. Despise the Yanks, always have, always will.

I don't think they will make the playoffs. Too far back. Joe Torre will be let go and A-Rod will move on. Have fun Yanks.

Well, even with an 8-game deficit...

.....I acknowledge it's not easy, but if, over a ten-game stretch:

The Yankees go 8-2, and Boston goes 4 and 6--both completely possible--that 8-game deficit is down to 4 games, and that seems a lot more manageable.

I think the Yankees are capable--I can't let the fact I hate them cloud my logic. I just hope it doesn't happen, would LOVE to see them miss the playoffs by a 1/2 game!!

Just kiddin'- I was also a Yankee hater before this year. I have empathy for this years team because the Yankee fans that can afford to attend the expensive seats have poisoned thier chances this year by jeering A-Rod the last couple of years.
They have the best baseball player on the planet and they were stupid enough to boo him when they should've been cheering him.

He's the one player who can save them this year.

Your logic is a flawed in that you can't just randomly choose a 10 game stretch. Stats don't work like that. You have to consider the whole picture not just bits and pieces.

Currently the Yanks have to play 68 more games and the Sox and the Indians have 66 to go. If either the Sox and or the Indians play .500 the rest of the way the Yanks would still have to win at a .581 rate or go 43 - 25 to pass either.

Basically the Sox or the Indians would have to play 94 percentage points below what they are playing now and the Yanks would have to improve by 70 percentage points to win by ONE game.

Obviously if the Sox or the Indians play at a clip greater than .500 than the Yanks chore gets much tougher or conversely if the Indians or the Sox REALLY tank and drop well below .500 for the remaining games, things get much better for the Yanks.

Don't think the Yanks are getting in. May be wrong but I don't think so.

.....of course I can randomly choose 10 games, I just did. And stats work EXACTLY like that.

If the Yankees go 8 and 2--perfectly conceivable--and the BoSox play less than .500 for that stretch--also perfectly conceivable, then my example comes true. As a matter of fact, in the LAST 10 games, the Yankees are 7 and 3 and the Sox are 4 and 6; pretty close to my example.

It was only what, 3 weeks ago, that the Yankees trailed by 14 games. They cut the deficit in half in that period of time.

The Red Sox better pull their heads out of their nether regions and start playing decent ball, or they'll be worrying about the wild card instead of the NYY!

Sorry Chet, I think you're a nice guy, but I have to go with Detroit!

I hate the Yanks and especially the Red Sox with a passion! I've hated the Yankees since Billy Martin and Reggie Jackson and the booing during that World Series! I've been impacted since a kid from that incident! Talk about a grudge. Sorry, I couldn't add anything better than that.

GO TIGERS!

If the Yanks can solve thier middle reliever woes then they will overtake the Bosox.
This new kid Shelly Duncan looks to be the power hitter that can take the pressure off of A-Rod and make the other teams pitch to him (A-Rod). The modern day version of "Murderer's Row" was reborn this weekend.

Hey Chet - Saturday and Sunday were good days to be Yankee fans - glad we're able to get the "Yankee Haters" back into form with their venom spewing posts about how much they hate the Yanks and their fans. Hopefully, the Yanks will keep it up and us Yankee fans can be further entertained by the Yankee haters and their posts.

HAIR FOLLICLE TEST.
Another example of Bud Selig burying his head in the sand.
Urine Tests are "caveman" for the next generation of Balco-ites.
You're telling me that Rodriguez is going to 500 in half the time
it's taken Thome and Ramirez and he's NOT JUICED.
GTF REAL please.
Even the "Big Box Stores" are doin' HFT's on employable prospects.
Not our boy Bud Selig - Caveman.

I honestly have to say I despise the NY Yankees, thats not even a strong enough word.

I dont know why. I just would rather smash my hands with a hammer than enjoy them succeed.

I have faith in my Bo-Sox. I also have faith in the other contenders in the AL as well.

So run your mouths all you want Stankees fans. Your precious little team will soon face the music.

you're a nut!

You really know your Baseball Genny
I'll save Your quote for the day he's exposed....
The most amazing thing about ARod is even if The Bum is "enhanced" he won't pass Hack Wilson for the Single Season RBI Record.
I wanna know what Hack Wilson was drinkin'! Probably Corn Liquor.
I can't see anyone passing Ripkin or Hack Wilson's marks as long as there's a schedule of 162 Games.
Papi said he did drank a "Joe Weider Nutrition Shake".
He was 14 years old at the time of the heinous act.
He made the remark in Spring Training.
Scintillating...
A-Rod's power is from his legs Genny.
Not his man-boobs.
His legs are totally out of proportion to the rest of him.
Remember Tom Platz all you gym rats.
Similarities?

i just read "book of shadows" on vacation... now I think everybody is on something... HGH, whatever.

in terms of arods physique:

I was just saying that the guys on roids, were cut, zero percent body fat.....

if you remember last year, Arod was soft, (he lost weight in the off season).

thats why i mentioned his man- boobs... I guy on juice isn't gonne be sporting any soft pointy pecs...

remember louis gonzalez when he was hitting 45+ long balls? that guy was on juice. (sorry d-back fans)

good luck against the Indians tonight

just figure that 80% of all players have used something to improve their performance HGH, Steroids, Andro and be done with it. That would include those you love (or think you love) and those you hate (and think you hate)...

The system encouraged it. Everyone is one rationale away from doing very bad things. I had a conversation once with a very famous person (who is also very smart) and in the course of the conversation I made the comment that something that someone did was very hypocritical... his response, "the only person who is not the biggest hypocrite in the world is the person who has not examined his own actions."

I choose to go easy on the guys who used. The tour de France is proof that even with sanctions, penalties and public scrutiny... the lure to cheat is stronger than to not cheat. That is why it is news when a guy finds a briefcase of money and returns it... it is out of the ordinary. most people are ordinary.

my good friend, who is not a sports guy, (he is the stage manager of a relatively big goldenvoice venue) and last night, HE offered dodger Giants tickets for next week...

thats the double edge sword of the steroids era.... long ball homers, broken records, all the things people want to see....

its as good for baseball as it is bad.
