The Sox have woken up and are stepping on the gas and are going to leave the Hankees in the dust. Let's hope Manny comes out of the kitchen and Gagne continues to pitch the way he did last night.

Congrats to The Sox and The Red Sox Nation -Just one more week of regular season baseball left - Yanks have 8 games left and the Sox have 7 left -going to be tough for the Yanks to win the division but they should certainly make the playoffs as the wild card - Now Francona can start to rest everybody

Actually, any combination of Yankee wins and Tiger losses adding up to 2 will do it.

Yeah well Tigers lost and the Yankees also lost. But the Yankees need one more win to get the wild card.

I'm really happy for Joe.
And what a difference from wondering where the bench was in May. Must be an incredible experience for all, especially the rookies.

Red Sox clinch the A.L. East, Cubs clinch the N.L. Central, the Phillies continue to play out if their minds while the Brewers collapse is complete and the Mets are on life support. I love all 162 games of it!

Joe wasn't concerned with winning the AL East. He rested his starters instead.

They need to make some changes before they can think about advancing into the playoffs. At this point they don't deserve to make it.

Congrats to The Red Sox Nation

A great regular season for all of MLB and let's hope the playoffs bring us more of the same. The Sox held it together and deserved to win the AL East and I tip my hat to them. The Yanks had a great second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome their horrendous start. The Sox were the better team over the course of the regular season.
BTW, The game winning bunt that The O's Melvin Mora laid down last night was textbook perfect and completely caught the Yankees infield offguard. Videotape of that bunt will be a tutorial used by coaches and managers at all levels for years to come. A great call by The O's and a great comeback by The O's to win the game.

Ya right Chet, they ( Yanks) wanted to win the division so bad they could taste it. They would never just sit and be second best to the Sox. Chet, you are so funny!!! Chet, why can't you and Genny have class, like Beach? You Yank fans may not believe this, but I hope you beat Cleveland and we beat LAA so we can meet again and destroy you like we did in 2004!

I was one of the 53. At the time it didn't look that good.
Congrats to the Yankees on making it and to the BoSox for finishing on top of the A.L. East.

Word..................

I was one of the 53 also.
I still think they will eventually collapse under their "You-gotta-win-because-you-are-a-bought-team-with-the-highest-payroll" pressure.
But I've been wrong before............

Red Sox clinch AL home field advantage with the best record in all of baseball. They are firing on all cylinders going into playoffs. Ortiz has been on fire for 2 months. The real J.D. Drew has shown up at the right time. Youk is back, Manny is back, Dice-k and Okajima are rested, and things are looking good for Red Sox Nation. Anyone who wants to be a member, go to RedSoxNation.com. Some good perks with membership. Also the vote is on now for the 1st President of the Nation. Hey Chet, want to join?

That's all you got? 2004? I can pull a few memorable NY years out of our history to see and raise your 2004 such as 1978, 1986, 1999, 2000, 2003.

Based on Boston's track record, you're due to win another Series in 2090. Hope you're around to see it.

P.S. The Mets are breaking out the golf clubs tomorrow. Better get those Boston tee times ready too.

I was finished posting on this thread but...There is no team in sports that has not "choked" one time or another and the yankees are no exception. I could roll off a hand full of yankee chokes, so if your past is choke free then you can talk, if it is not.. people in glass houses. I love the selective memory of some yankee fans.By the way you forgot 1949 as well.
