Finally watched the first "Fantastic Four" movie.
I have mixed feeling about it. If it were released when I was a kid collecting all the comic books then I would've been ecstatic about it.
All the actors were pretty believable in thier roles FWIW. Reed Richards was great as well as Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm. Jessica Alba was looking "Fantastic" herself! The writing should've been closer to the original comic book. They should've just dropped in the middle of the series and held the "origin" stuff for later. I wanted to watch this before I went to see the new movie.

With today's technology,it could've been better (1st movie)---nevertheless,it was fun and #2 should be better.

It's the FIRST Fantastic Four film I want to see:
I remember hearing about this when it happened, but I've never seen a bootleg copy of it. I saw some stills and they were super cheesy:
A movie adaptation of The Fantastic Four was completed in 1994 by famed B-movie director/producer Roger Corman. While this movie was never released to theaters or video, it has been made available from various bootleg video distributors. The film was made on a shoestring budget and is largely mocked by fans of the comic book foursome for what they see as poor acting and disappointing special effects (at one point, The Human Torch — played by a human actor — turns into an obvious cartoon upon "flaming-on"). The film was made because the studio who owned the movie rights to the Fantastic Four would have lost them if it had not begun production by a certain deadline date (a tactic known as creating an ashcan copy). According to producer Bernd Eichinger, Avi Arad had Marvel purchase the film for a few million dollars.

I think it was easier to do the Spiderman/Superman movies. The Fantastic Four with the stretching of Mr. Fantastic, the flying and flaming body of the Human Torch and the invisibility of the Invisible Girl would've been too hard to recreate onscreen without today's technology. The Thing was the easiest- all they had to is put makeup on some guy with a huge build.
Making Alicia an Afro-American woman was a twist! I liked the Invisible Girl's costume too!
