"Fantastic Four" movies:

Are they any good? I used to read the comics when I was a kid but have never went to see these. I really dug the Silver Surfer though.

I enjoyed them. They weren't life changing movies or anything but they were definitely worth watching. Go rent the first one and then go watch silver surfer. They're worth the price of admission.

i liked them both, but Silver Surfer is my favorite of the two. with movies like Spiderman and Pirates of the Carribean being not only long, but confusing and cluttered, Silver Surfer was refreshing. It was the type of movie where I walked out and said, "I can't believe it was done already" instead of, "wow, that took forever".

They're average IMO, not bad, but nothing spectacular..

There seems to be a recent trend of making movies out of old animated shows/comics. fantastic 4, x men, spider-man, batman, superman, transformers...

I guess I'm too young to remember the comics, and I didn't really like batman or superman. Transformers is going to be awesome though...

Before the seeing the Fantastic 4 yesterday at the Alamo Drafthouse here, there was an interview with Stan Lee, the creator of the comic book series. Very impressive, indeed. A lot of creativity went into those stories and the films definitely have captured their spirit.

The Thing is too...small. He looks like he'd have a tough auld time of it on Yancy Street. It'd be Clobberin' Time ...but he'd be the one gettin' clobbered.
The movies were good old fashioned fun though.

I was a huge Fantastic Four fan when I was a pup. (I wish I still had those comics!) The movies are so horribly mis-cast that I can't bring myself to see them. Sure Jessica Alba is hot, but she ain't Sue Storm!
