What have I done?

So I'm in a local independent shop. I'm not really shopping, just killing time with my son on our way to lunch last Saturday. I pick up a few Martins and none of them do it for me.

I go into this smaller room and there's this beautiful Gibson hanging on the wall. I'm like, agh, I'm not picking it up or looking at the price tag. Ooh, there's a used Taylor 310 on the wall....and it sucks too. Hey, there's another Martin, an older Martin...and it sucks too. I guess I'll try the Gibson and I won't look at the price tag. I'm sure it'll suck. AGH, dammit it doesn't suck. It sounds beautiful. There's just good mids too it, crap it's even easy to play. In fact, this might be a tonal nirvana. Crap. Oh hey, look at the check marks in the finish and scuffs...this is one old guitar which will make it vintage and waaaaaaaay out of my league. Guess it's safe to look at the price tag...and it's $795???? What is this? It's a 1970's Gibson J40 which I've never heard of before. But hey, it's a 30 year old Gibson and they gotta be worth more than this, right? So, uh...ok let's put a little money down on it and go research it.
I have other things to do, other priorities and now I have a 30 year old Gibson hanging in a guitar store with my name on it.

What have I done?

It sounds like a lot of satisfaction for $795. Go get it before some wanker scuffs it up.

If Ya got "the belly pain" it's Your Soul chastising You for leaving Her in the store - and it will go away instantly when You're holding Her again I promise.
The belly knows...

No I didn't. I put $50 on it.
I have a Guild F4CE, a thin acoustic electric that is OK. I have a Fender GA45SCE which I really like. I was thinking about putting the Guild toward it.
I really don't know what to do.

Hey, if the Guild is "OK" and the Gibson is "tonal nirvana", I'd say you know EXACTLY what to do!

If the bills are gettin' paid then there ain't nothing wrong with curing some intense gas.

One thing for certain: do not trade a guitar for it. Sell it on your own. You'll take a bath if you trade it in.
