The NY Yankees/A-Rod Saga:
What do you think about the latest controversy he's got himself in? The mystery dancer he's been spotted dating(?)? The NY Post reported that she's originally from a small town in Iowa.

Life,Liberty and The Pursuit Of Happiness!!!!
He ain't doing NOTHIN' everybody in The Music Industry's done already. More power to ya Alex!!!! If I was Steinbrenner - I'd eliminate any reporters from the offending newspaper as a "payback" for what their gossip columnists pulled. I don't think anything A-Rod does in his private life should be held up for the public's scrutiny. Kid's "role models" are supposed to be Mom & Dad. My "role model" said this; "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..."

Whatever. Catch the freaking ball, chump.
I wish the media would talk about teams who are good (like my Tribe) instead of a bunch of overpaid stiffs who have no chance. I'm so BORED of the Yankees. Yeah, I hate them, like every other baseball fan outside of the tri-state area, but mostly I just don't care... |

Hey "Mink" got hurt pretty bad Saturday.
Doug Mientkiewicz got TKO'd on a possible double play relay throw from Derek Jeter when his head got in the way of Mike Lowell's thigh. He's in Mass General with a broken wrist and a concussion. Doug's always gonna be a very special person in Red Sox Nation regardless of where his career takes him so,
speaking for Red Sox Nation - please get well Doug. Our Prayers for a speedy recovery and a quick return to the lineup. You don't want to get into a collision with Mike Lowell - just ask Mike Piazza who's on "The DL" for 6-8 weeks after a collision at 3rd base with Mr.Lowell, who btw is tied with A-Rod for RBI's as I write this. FWIW, A-Rod and Mientkiewicz have been Teammates since High School when A-Rod played QB and "Mink" was his Tight End and a primary receiver.

I think it was Cano who was coming into home plate from 3rd base and the pitcher was covering. The runner tried to slide by him and was thrown out. I'm from the "old school"- if you're in the baseline then you're fair game-especially if you're trying to block home plate. I would've tried to take his head off, so to speak (Pete Rose style). Keith Hernandez (NY Mets commentator) said the same thing last week. I in fact did this type of thing last year playing softball.

One more thing: A-Rod is the single best player in the major leagues right now. Can't understand why the NY news media has it in for him- should be the other way around.

....er not really - what he did do was expose a weakness that Red Sox Nation was aware of namely a very young Closer who made the mistake of challenging a great fastball hitter.
I believe what we're going to see in the very near future is a "platooning" of the late innings men...the next time this situation comes up it will not be Papelbon closing - it'll be Okajima. Right now - despite their dismal record New York is HOT. This is not a bad thing if You're a Citizen of Red Sox Nation. A weak and pathetic Yankee Team would make for a very dull Summer. And I'm sure fans of The Evil Empire prefer the intensity of THE Rivalry over a runaway - lights out race. I think We all live for this. We're out west and they're in Chicago so They might get rained out... I think the weather was a major factor in those three games.
