Can you rent instructional DVDs anywhere?
I've heard some good things about different instructional DVDs for guitar, but I'm hesitant to drop 25 to 45 bucks on something that might turn out to be at too high or too low (doubtful) of a level for me - or for something that won't help because of its format or differences in taste.
Do any of those places like NetFlix rent instructional DVDs? I guess I could have looked at their website, but there may be better places to rent them - even if NetFlix does have them. My local video stores don't have them. So, are there any good places to rent digital VDs for learning guitar? |

Smartflix (there may be others), don't know if they will have what you want. I have rented a couple of Covell sheet metal forming videos from them and the rent and return mail process works well.
http://smartflix.com/store/category/...al-Instruction "most of our DVDs are just $9.99, and we cover shipping both ways."

Thanks, Mike. I went to the NetFlix site too - they have some instructional DVDs. Looks like, for $4.99 a month, I could borrow up to 2 DVDs a month (one at a time). I'd have to go back and see how long the contract is, but one of these places might be a good way to "test drive" some of these videos.
Thanks, again, for the input. --Sean |

Netflix is pay as you go -- no contract, quit anytime. You keep a DVD as long as you want, and you get the next one when you return the first. It's a great service if you turn in the DVD with some frequency. If you rent one and keep it 3 months, however, you probably would have done better buying it.
I have elementary age kids, so Netflix has saved me a ton in late fees at Blockbuster. |

I've borrowed several that I see are for sale from my library system. It's a good thing because I would not have wanted to spend the full price on many.
I recently got Eric Johnson's DVD at a used book store for little, and and others were there, but not of interest to me. These are not exactly rental places, but the price is right and most used book stores will buy their stuff back. |

I get them from Netflix anytime. I love Netflix. Sometimes I watch more DVDs than other times, so I keep changing my plan to suit as I go. Note that DVD's from Netflix don't come with the printed books that instructional DVDs usually have. So, if you like something, you'll still want to buy it, but it sure helps weed through the herd.
