Hello Cleveland! R & R Hall of Fame

We were out in Ohio for a college graduation over the weekend, so we decided to go to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Sunday.

It was actually pretty cool & we had a good time. I'd seen the building from the outside before but hadn't been in. For those who haven't seen it, it's a modern I M Pei design which is not usually my cup of tea but I have to say I was pretty impressed with the design after going though it. I think it works well for what they're doing.

As far as the exhibits, if you really wanted to immerse yourself, you could spend at least an entire day looking at all the memorabilia & artifacts. We were only there about 4 hrs as travel limited our time.

Lots of posters, original lyric sheets, stage clothing, guitars, drums, etc. With middle-age setting in, I think I'd take a strong pair of reading glasses & a flashlight next time.

The primary “Hall of Fame” is actually a video compilation of all the inducted artists listed by year. I guess there are glass panels in a walkway around the video theater but some how we missed them.

I'm happy to report that Telecasters were well represented in the exhibits. Of the handful of specific guitars that I recognized, half were Teles (Jeff Beck's, Joe Strummer's & Muddy's among them) One of my other favorites was Johnny Thunders LP Jr.

If you're in the area, it's worth checking out.
