Gift for classical guitarist:

Any ideas? He's a just a beginner and I found a DVD of Segovia style taught be ELiot Fisk.
Or is there any new guitarist out that someone could recommend?
Totally out of my element here

Does he have one of those foot rests yet? How about a good tuner?

Foot rest is an awesome idea! Thanks

Or he can use the nice Martin D28 his wife got him as a starter guitar. (I wish I was joking). He doesn't like the steel strings, so unless I get him a transducer, the gut strings won't work on a Tele.

My first real guitar was a classical. At the time, my fingers couldn't handle my brother's steel string guitar, so I went with nylon for the first year.

I've found a simple music stand with a light to be a very underrated tool if you have to read a lot of sheet music.

Another gift idea, if the D-28 is sitting idle, give him a set of coated steel strings to try on it. They have a silky feeling to them. Better yet, offer to borrow the Martin so it gets used - there's nothing better to improve the tone of an acoustic!

Hmmm, good suggestion on the D28!

The nylon string is the only type of guitar I haven't owned,
I really should investigate.
Do you still have one Eric?

I haven't owned one in over 30 years. The one I did have I gave away in 1970.

In recent years, those Godin nylon string guitars have caught my eye, the one's you can play through an amp. But that's as far as it goes; just a window shopping thing.

I'd suggest renting a classical guitar for a month if you're interested in trying one. That way there's no commitment if you discover it's not for you.

Nail grooming kit

A nice set of files and polishing devices....for those long right hand finger nails.... That´s a gift that he´ll enjoy for the rest of his guitarplaying life.
