The Weird Al Yankovic parody music videos
I guess the King of Musical parodies must be Weird Al Yankovic, who always asks the original artist for permission before making fun of them. And very often the original artist work with him making that parody.
Let me put the original ones and the Parodies side to side. Michael Jackson "Bad" Weird Al "Fat" Jackson had the same film crew and the same location hired for Weird Al to make this parody, it shows Jackson's humorous side at work, hey, if you can't laugh about yourself, who can you laugh about? The Presidents of the United States of America "Lump" Weird Al "Gump" Chris Ballew (PUSA lead vocalist) always said that he should've closed of the song "Lump" with the line "And that's all I have to say about that." But it never got in there for some reason, so when Weird Al contacted him on doing this parody, he asked him to include that line and Weird Al gladly complied.

Weird Al is great. In his own sorta way. I saw him live sometime ago. Although I was kind of reluctant to go (My friend wanted to go so bad he bought my ticket) I was impressed afterwards. He put on a really energetic show. It was very entertaining.

I went to College in San Luis Obsipo from 1978 thru 1981 @ Cal Poly And Weird Al was the campus radio DJ, KCPR The San Luis SOund. We used to bug him to play requests on sat night (he would cuz he was cool) and a couple of times he came to parties at my apartment in "Mustang Village". Al was a geek, but a nice person and very pleasant whcih made him cool in my book. I remember some new-wave rock band had re-done the old classic "Money (That's what I want") and weird Al did a local pizza jingle: "Just one bite and you'll know why, All I want to eat's an Armidillo Pizza Pie". I thought it was a crack up when he hit it big and I'm very gappy for him.

Ya gotta watch "Ridin' Dirty" then Al's "White and Nerdy."
On You Tube he has interviews with Billy Joel and Tom Petty. They aren't your normal interviews. And I still like "UHF" if for nothing else then "Spatula City." "Beverly, Beverly, Beverly Hillbillies..." "That little Clampett's got his own ce-ment pond, That little Clapett he's a millionaire...." |

I had the pleasure of meeting Weird Al about 10 years age. Very nice man. He played at the theater downtown and after his gig he showed up at the club I was playing. His band preceded his arrival as they took advantage of a driver assigned to them by the promoter. Al arrived a bit later after walking the two miles to the club. Really nice guy, he patiently spoke to people and signed autographs for quite a while.
