Hal Ketchum fans - live show broadcast today (2/21)

In September, 2006 I had the pleasure of stage managing a Hal Ketchum show at my old stomping grounds, The Egg in Albany, NY. The show was sponsered by our local public radio station who sent someone to record it.

Funny thing is, the recording almost didn't come off because even though we had met with the engineer and agreed that he would bring a hard disk recorder, and take a split from our desk, he showed up with a carload of gear to set up in the "wings" where there is absolutely no space. His excuse was that the original gear was broken, but so was the stuff he brought. It slowed us down, and made us look pretty inept, and it turns out that just as I was thinking "I wonder if my boss would let me kick this guy to the curb" my boss was thinking "I wonder if Ben wants to kick this guy to the curb." It was only because of our lack of communication that this show still got recorded. Heh.

I'm glad it did though. It was fantastic. Easily in the top ten out of hundreds I did in that theater, and I had never really heard Hal before. The program schedule is a little shady, and doesn't specifically mention the exact time for this specific show, but the live performance show airs this evening at 8:00 eastern time on WAMC Northeast Public Radio. Click the "listen now" link on the left and select a format.

Unfortunatly, while I'd love to claim more credit for this recording, I was merely responsible for running the show. The most difference you'll hear is the fact that he found the stage on time, and nobody died.

Enjoy!

Hi Ben. I couldn't find where the show was posted. Could you post a direct link? I'm looking forward to Hal's show here in south Florida at the Bamboo Room next month!

The show's not posted, it's being broadcast at 8:00 eastern. You've got to stream it at that point. I do wish they would post it for download, but I'm sure that would be a lot more complicated legally.
